    James Cameron (fl. 1843-1902) was a resident of James Cameron Island, Lake St. Francis (near Summertown, Ontario), who previously lived in Williamstown and Martintown.

    Scope and content

    Fonds consists of the microfilmed diaries of James Cameron, written while he resided on James Cameron Island. Diary entries relate to: the weather; farming (including wood cutting and the care of farm animals); hunting; trade; shipping; fishing; social visits; trips to Williamstown; and local news. Diaries also include mathematics exercises, penmanship exercises, hand written sheet music, and hand copied essays and poems. Also included are some loose items, including: receipts; an advertising letter from the Curzon Brothers (tailors); family correspondence; accounts; and a child’s drawings and exercises.
