Biographical history
Jacques Castonguay (1926- ) served with the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a University Professor. A native of Quebec City, he received his BA from Laval University, and a PhD in Psychology in 1960 from the University of Montreal. During the Second World War (1943-1945), he served with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals, and in 1958 he re-enrolled with the Royal Canadian Air Force, first as a reserve member and then for nine years as a member of the regular force. When he retired from the Canadian Forces in 1970 he held the rank of major. He has taught in three universities, particularly at the Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean (1963-66/1970-89). He retired in 1989.

Scope and content
Fonds consists of material used by Jacques Castonguay in the preparation of biographies for the Dictionary of Canadian Biography Volume XIV 1911-1920. Includes biographies prepared in French, brief biographical sketches and passages from various published sources, and other documents. There are three series all dealing with winners of the Victoria Cross. The fourth series contains documents pertaining to the Chaplain General (RC) Division which had been used to write "Unsung mission: history of the Chaplaincy Service (RC) of the RCAF". Fonds consists of the following series:
