General note
Joseph Oscar Napoleon Adjutor Samson was born on December 23, 1885 in Lambton, Quebec to Joseph Adjutor Samson and Marie Amanda Theriault. He attended Levis College in Levis, Quebec and studied commerce. After moving to Sudbury, Samson married Marie Herminie Powell (daughter of Joseph Powell and Agnes Groulx) at Ste. Anne des Pins on April 19, 1909. His wife died in January 1917 and Samson married Marie Virginia Rose Acquin (daughter of Oliver Acquin and Marie Boivin) on August 30, 1921. He worked for fifty years (1907-1957) at Sudbury Brewing and Malting Company which became Northern Breweries (beginning as an accountant and retiring as the Manager). As an Alderman in 1924 and 1925, he returned his $130 cheque ($5 per meeting) to the Town Treasurer to reinvest in the town. In 1937 he was Constable for the City of Sudbury. Samson was a curler, a member of the Sudbury Curling Club, and held the record during his time as Mayor of having caught the largest fish in Sudbury and District. Samson died in Sudbury, Ontario at the age of 90.
