General note
Joseph Gill was born July 23, 1867 in Simcoe North, Ontario to Daniel Gill and Elizabeth (Betsy) Hamilton. He married Jessie Jupp (1862-1896) January 14, 1891 and was living with his in-laws in Orillia, Ontario in April 1891. Gill moved to Sudbury during the early 1890's and worked as a Jeweller and politician. In August 1896, Jessie Gill's brother, Mayor Jupp of Orillia, came to visit and Jessie Gill passed away the following week after a very short illness (two days). She was buried in Orillia, Ontario. After his wife's passing, Gill's father-in-law James R. Jupp and sister-in-law Kate Jupp moved in with him to help raise his son James Richard Gill (1891-) in Sudbury, Ontario. Joseph Gill died March 23, 1947 in Sudbury, Ontario and was buried with his beloved wife in Orillia, Ontario.
