This photograph looks to the east side of the former City Hall building and the surrounding market area. First erected in 1856 on the Market Square, City Hall originally had a short tower on its top. In 1870, another storey was added.

This photograph shows Bell Piano and Organ factory on the corner of Carden and Wyndham Streets. Bell Piano was established in 1864 and grew faster than any other industry in the city until the business finally declined in the 1920's and went bankrupt in 1934.
