The Ottawa Valley Regiment Fonds contain material relating to the Ottawa Valley Regiment from the second half of the 18th century up until the late 20th century. The documents include copies of Militia General Orders from the late 1700s to the mid-1800s, officer lists, regimental returns, general correspondence and memorandum reports, maps, and newspaper and gazette excerpts.

William Bell fonds

Most of the papers deal with Bell's activities as part of the Hastings Militia. Bell served under his friend, John Ferguson, and in 1825 succeeded him as colonel in command of the 1st Regiment, Hastings Militia. There is a small quantity of personal correspondence and 23 items relating to his role as Justice of the Peace and Coroner. Also included is a small file of correspondence from Robert Laing, who succeded Bell as schoolmaster on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Reserve. The photographs are arranged by subject matter and cover activities in and around the town of Deseronto, Ontario. The majority date from the late nineteenth century and many depict the lumber-related industries of the Rathbun Company in Deseronto. There are also photographs of school groups, churches, railways, First World War airfields and portraits of Deseronto citizens.

Fonds consists primarily of letters from Roland James Saundercook, a Canadian soldier fighting overseas, home to his immediate family in Collin's Bay, Ontario, dating between 1942 and 1945. Other letters present include from people overseas who had known Roland James Saundercook and wanted to send condolences to his family, and letters from family friends on the same topic dated 1945. Also present is Saundercook's flying log book and other military records, land records and a photograph of the Saundercook home in Collin's Bay, official military correspondence about his disappearance and his parents subsequent attempt to locate him, and a photograph album of early carte-de-visites, unidentified.

Fonds consists of Lindstrom's professorial and scholarly research files throughout her career, as well as records documenting her academic activities. Research files pertain to her publications and monographs such as "Defiant Sisters : A Social History of Finnish Immigrant Women in Canada, 1890-1930" (both the English and Finnish editions), and "From Heroes to Enemies : Finns in Canada, 1937-1947," as well as book chapters, articles, papers, presentations and lectures, and her involvement with the National Film Board production "Letters from Karelia," and subsequent research. The research files span the activities of Finnish and Finnish-Canadian organizations across the political spectrum, such as the Finnish Organization of Canada (left wing), and Loyal Finns in Canada (right wing). Records include oral history interviews (audio cassettes and transcripts), research notes, clippings, a significant and extensive number of photograph and letter collections passed down through generations of Finnish Canadians, diaries, correspondence, publication drafts, academic and professorial notes, microfilm of Finnish language newspapers published in Canada and archival records, financial records of Finnish-Canadian organizations such as newspapers and post-World War II relief funding bodies, scrapbooks, photocopies of rare and unusual documents such as two volumes of a Soviet register of Finnish War Crimes, a list of persons found in the mass grave at Karhumaki, and Soviet lists of North American Finns who journeyed to Karelia to help build a socialist utopia there, academic and professorial files, publicity files, files pertaining to her work with the School of Women's Studies, and her own papers as a university student. The fonds also includes letters written by Lindstrom as a newly-arrived teenaged immigrant to Canada to her best friend in Finland; many of these letters were published in Finnish with English translation in 'Letters from an immigrant teenager' in 2012.

Harry LeRoy Babcock fonds

Colonel Babcock always intended to write his memoirs, but a busy life intervened. The contents and arrangement of his papers reflect this intent but unfortunately much of the research is incomplete. The papers are grouped roughly by subject, usually a military unit and then chronologically. The holograph items are limited. Much of the fonds consists of clippings, ephemera, keepsakes and the like. Scouting and the James Taylor material were given special treatment in his filing system. There is also a limited file on the establishment of Adolphustown Provincial Park and a file about issues with local ferries. Many of the photographs in the fonds are snapshots, undated and identified only by nicknames. The books are stories from the First World War. Fonds consists of records documenting the life of Henry Cassel, particularly his attempt to emigrate from Europe prior to the Second World War and his internment in Canada as a German Prisoner of War (POW). Included is personal correspondence between Cassel and his parents; correspondence written by Cassel to potential employers and Canadian Jewish agencies; legal documents and certificates, such as Cassel's birth certificate and passport; family photo albums documenting the family and lives of Henry Cassel and his wife Reta; Cassel's autobiography; a journal and notebook written by Cassel during his internment; and, other internment records, such as government forms and poems and songs written by internees. Also included are newspaper clippings, articles, financial statements, genealogical research, and anti-Semitic ephemera collected by Cassel. Of particular note are newsletters that were produced during the 1990s by ex-internees who had kept in touch over the years. Records are arranged into 16 files.

Sir Gilbert Parker fonds

The Gilbert Parker fonds consists of three folders. The first contains pieces of correspondence, primarily to Col. W.N. Ponton. Amoung the items he sent to Ponton were two propogandist pamphlets by Reverend H.M. Gwatkin and William Arhcer respectively. The second folder contains two of his publications, of which the poem "Was it Some Golden Star" was put to music by Edward Elgar, and two publications directed towards the United States with the aim of bringing them into World War 1 on the British side. The final folder contains items from the Gilbert Parker Banquet in 1902 with items including a menu and an invitation.
