Collection consists of 287 post cards from communities throughout Peel, collected by Richard L. Frost. While assembled from a variety of sources by Frost as a private citizen, he was then the Chief Administrative Officer for the Region of Peel.

Specifically pictured in the selection are Alton, Belfountain, Bolton, Brampton, Caledon Township, Caledon East, Cataract. Cheltenham, Churchville, Clarkson, Cooksville, Dixie, Eldorado Park, Erindale, Forks of the Credit, Huttonville, Inglewood, Lorne Park, Malton, Meadowvale, Mississauga, Port Credit, and Streetsville. Limited postcards from outside Peel are included, showing Norval, Owen Sound, and Port Hope.

Baby Point Plaque

Item is one temporary plaque made of corrugated plastic. The design of the plaque replicates other heritage plaques around the city of Toronto that detail local history. Titled “Baby Point Crescent, Baby Point Road, Baby Point Terrace”, the contents of the sign explains the history of Jacques “James” Baby, who the area is named after. It highlights the Baby family’s ties to slavery, citing they were responsible for enslaving at least 17 Black and Indigneous people. The creator of the sign is unknown, it is one of several signs placed around Toronto to draw attention to the involvment of prominent historical figures in slavery.

Fonds reflects Ted Sobisch's work with the Executive Council of the Northeastern University Committee (1960), the Executive Council of Northeastern University (1960-1966), Nipissing College's Board of Governors (1967-1975), and the Nipissing College Advisory Committee (1967-1970). Additionally, the fonds documents Sobisch's research and writing of an unpublished book titled <i>A University is Born : The History of Northeastern University College,</i> and it also reflects the work of Herb Brown as a member of the Northeastern University Committee, Executive Council of Northeastern University, and Nipissing College's Board of Governors. Fonds is arranged into five series based the committee or project they relate to, or based on provenance in the case of Herb Brown's records.

Fonds documents all aspects of Trinity College's program of granting in absentia music degrees in Britain
from its inception in 1885 to its demise in 1891. Included in this material is correspondence with practicing
musicians, with those administering the program in Britain, and with various university and government
officials. There are administrative records such as calendars, degree requirements and formal
examination papers. Formal and legal documents, such as the “Memorial” and responses to it, as well as
communications with university chancellors show the increasing opposition to the program. Many
newspaper and journal clippings document these events.

Shoe last and stand

Item is one shoe last and stand, or cobbler's anvil. It would be attached to the cobblers bench and would provide support while they made or repaired shoes. The last at the top of the stand is detachable and would and likely would have come in a set with different sizes.

Snotneus lamp

Item is an early 19th century brass oil lamp. It features a removable fuel chamber with a spout where a length of wick would be fed through. When in use, the second spout would catch drips from the wick. The bottom of the lamp has a weighted base for use on a table, and a hook at the top so it could be hung against a wall.

This style of lamp was popularized by the Dutch and is known as a Snotneus lamp, which translates to nose-drip, and refers to the double spout design. Sometimes called whale oil lamps, they were typically used with animal fats.

Oil lamp

Item is a hurricane kerosene oil lamp. It features a clear glass fuel section with a handle and a stylized brass stopper. Above, the brass burner has an adjustable wick and is topped with a glass chimney.

The lamp can likely be dated to the early 1900s, before electricity became more available in homes.

Bed warmer

Item is a ceramic bed warmer or foot warmer. Originally, bed warmers used hot coals from a fire to warm the bed before use. This example, however, could stay in the bed as the user slept and would be filled with hot water.

The warmer is designed to replicate a small Gladstone bag and features faux stitching patterns along the seams. The original handle has been replaced with a leather tie, but the item still has the original wooden stopper.

Item is a magnifying glass with a painted wood handle. The maker's marks on the top of the metal frame for Bausch & Lomb Co. suggests a date earlier than 1908 when the company merged with Zeiss & Saegmuller and began using B. L. Z. S. as their trademark.
