In addition to the minutes of the annual meeting, a Record of Proceedings may also include a history of the Conference, compiled minutes of the Executive Committee meetings for that year, reports and the agenda distributed prior to an annual meeting, a Conference directory and an index of motions. The Executive Secretary title was created in 1971, and was based on the former Secretary position: responsibilities included keeping a record of proceedings of the Conference; keeping an accurate roll of members and compiling other statistics concerning pastoral charges and ministers; conducting correspondence pursuant to the proceedings of the Conference; facilitating Presbytery procedures with training and support; acting as a resource person in new church development areas; and communicating and interpreting the policies and actions of the national Church Offices.

Social justice work at Toronto Conference was the responsibility of particular Conference Committees, including Church in Society and World Affairs (previously World Outreach) and their subcommittees. Conference Minister of Christian Development supported the work relating to social justice at the Conference level in 1988. In 1998, a new position of Conference Minister for Social Justice and Ethnic Ministries took on this work. Following the reorganization of Toronto Conference in 2009, a new position of Social Justice Animator was created.

The position of the Communication Associate was established in 1978 as a volunteer position within the Toronto Conference Office to assist Conference with developing more effective means of communication. The position was responsible for developing Conference annual meeting resources, serving as staff liaison with the Conference newsletter, INSIGHT, assisting in planning and conducting of workshops relating to communications and assisting with special events publicity. From 1981-1989, the Conference Minister of Communication and Stewardship, was responsible for providing counsel, training and administrative support to Toronto Conference and presbyteries in the area of communication. It would later be added to the responsibilities of the Conference Minister for Christian Formation and Congregational Development in 2001.

Series consists of records concerning workshops, publications and events with the purpose of fostering communication, 1980-2009.

Records concerning camps

Camping was under the supervision of the Mission of Canada Camping Committee ca. 1972 and then the Camping Subcommittee of the Christian Development Committee. The Camping Committee hired a Coordinating Director for Camping in the 1970s to communicate directly with camps within the boundaries of Toronto Conference, to organize staff training events, and to report to Conference and to Committee on camping ministry. By 1996, this work became part of the Conference Minister for Christian Development with Youth and Young Adults, Camping and Children portfolio. In 2001, the position became Conference Minister for Christian Formation and Congregational Development, Camping.

The Conference Minister for Christian Development position began in 1975 to provide assistance to Presbyteries and mission units in planning for Christian Nurture and training adequate leadership, to research approaches to leadership, to assist in the administration of the lay leadership training fund, to provide consultative services and program resources to members of the order of ministry and the appropriate Conference Committee in the area of continuing education and professional development. The Conference Minister supported the work of the Christian Development Committee and its subcommittees. In 1985, this position was renamed Conference Minister for Christian Development and Congregational Life. The position also consulted with presbyteries and sessions/official boards in their exercise of care and oversight of the life and ministry of congregations. In 1988, the work of the program was divided so the congregational piece was separate and under the portfolio of the Conference Minister for Congregational Life and Leadership Development. Christian Development then included social justice. In 2001, all this work became part of the Conference Minister for Christian Formation and Congregational Development. The position focused on Christian formation, communication, evangelism, leadership and congregational development, Mission and Service Fund, spirituality, and stewardship.

Program staff responsible for stewardship provided counsel, training and administrative support to Toronto Conference and presbyteries in the area of stewardship of the church’s resources. It fell under the responsibility of the Stewardship Committee with the support of the assigned Conference Minister. From 1976-1978, it was the responsibility of the Conference Minister for Mission Strategy and Stewardship. From 1979 to the mid-1990s, it was the responsibility of the Conference Minister for Stewardship and Communication. The program work for a short period in the 1990s shared a portfolio with Ethnic Ministries. Stewardship then became part of the work of the Conference Minister for Christian Formation and Congregational Development in 2001.

The position of Conference Minister for Pastoral Care and Counsel was created in 1975 to consult pastoral charges with personnel matters, to provide administrative support in the area of Ministry, Personnel and Education, and to be a liaison with the Presbytery Pastoral Relations Committees. This position had been later named, Personnel Officer, Conference Minister for Personnel Policy and Support and then lastly Personnel Minister. There were at times two positions responsible for personnel.
