Alexander McPherson fonds

The fonds consists of 12 letters written by Alexander McPherson to members of his family, including his mother and his brother-in-law. The majority of the letters were written while he held the position of Manager at Plantation Nos. 17 & 18 in Berbice, British Guiana and the remainder represent the period following when he settled at Whitby.

Subjects of discussion include parties, family, travel, and daily life. Fonds also consists of a copy of The Greatest Thing in The World, An Address by Henry Drummond.

Series consists of the diary kept by Kay Irwin, club secretary, during the team’s trip to Europe for the World Ice Hockey Championship. She wrote about the team’s progress in the hockey tournament and her daily activities while visiting London, Frankfurt, Sweden, Oslo, Zurich, and Paris. Series also includes items found within the diary including cards and an itinerary.

Fonds consists of six scrapbooks pertaining to the 1957-58 season for the Whitby Dunlops hockey team. Scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings, magazine articles, and some handwritten observations by Ken. Scrapbook five follows the team's 1958 trip to Oslo, Norway to compete in the World Ice Hockey Championship which they go on to would win. Each scrapbook contains a table of contents at the beginning.

Series consists of a variety of photographs of the Whitby Dunlops, including professional game and team photos. There is a set of 11 images showing the team at the Whitby Arena after winning the Alan Cup in 1957. They were taken by a young fan called Cliff Godridge. There is also a set of photographic postcards from locations in Norway from the European tour in 1958. The series also contains professional photos of Harry Sinden as well as photos from the estate of Bus Gagnon.

There is also a collection of lapel pins from the former Soviet Union.
