Series consists of the permanent student academic records files created and maintained by the Atkinson School of Nursing of the Toronto Western Hospital. Records contained in individual files vary according to the date of creation, but may include student history cards containing grades, instructors’ assessments, dates of admission to the School and completion of course; certificates of preliminary education (high school academic records); reports from affiliated Hospitals, schools of nursing, and/ or education programs which students attended to receive specialized training and experience; and medical records. Some files also contain materials subsequently added, including letters from students or their agents requesting letters of reference for employment or information contained in their files, applications for employment in the Nursing Department of the TWH and employment records. For graduating years after 1920, only a 10% sample has been retained.

Sub-series contains a 10% sample of the records of students from affiliated schools of nursing who attended the Atkinson School of Nursing of the Toronto Western Hospital to receive a specialized course of instruction or to complete professional training in nursing service in the nursing department of the Toronto Western Hospital 1935-1973. File 1.2.1.6.1 includes monthly ratings of student nurses in the Operating Room, as well as miscellaneous correspondence such as letters of recommendation, and applications for post-graduate training. It is likely that these records are of a post-graduate training course in Operating Room techniques.

Fonds consists of a two ring school notebook for Pendergast’s science (home economics) class at Loretto Abbey Catholic Secondary School. The notebook is filled with Ontario Department of Agriculture Women’s Institutes pamphlets and circulars, hand-written notes, newspaper clippings and classroom handouts. Clippings include recipes for such as, for example, scalloped onions and mint foam. Other topics covered include home plans, removing stains, and making clothes.

Miriam Burland Fonds

Fonds consists of correspondence, notes, drafts, publications, clippings photographs, educational aids (star map and constellation abbreviations), and other material from the academic, professional, and post-retirement career of Miriam Burland. University records include a scrapbook from a tour she took as an undergraduate, a graduation photograph, and notes taken from the astrophysics course given by A. V. Douglas at McGill University from 1926-1927. Records from her career at the Dominion Observatory include photographs as well as correspondence and texts she wrote as an astronomer and later as a public relations education officer. The fonds also contains materials related to her work with the Ottawa Centre section of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and with the National Museum of Science and Technology. The records are arranged in rough chronological order.

Part of Henri Nouwen fonds

Sub-series consists of bound volumes of materials and loose documents created and used by Nouwen for his teaching positions various academic institutions in both North America and Europe. This includes reading notes, preparation notes, lecture notes, typed lecture summaries, course handouts and syllabi, many of which are heavily annotated by Nouwen. It also includes lectures, letters, notes, assignments and course evaluations produced by Nouwen's students and teaching assistants. In addition to the course-specific bound volumes, there are two bound volumes that are labelled as "miscellaneous class material" that relate to Nouwen's early career from 1959 to 1976.

Fonds consists of records that reflect the functions and activities of Council as a legislative and regulatory body in legal matters, taxation, justice and public protection, education, public health and welfare, finance, public accountability and planning. Records include, but are not limited to: working papers, minutes and resolutions, by-laws, reports to Council, and Court of Revision Records. The fonds chronicles Council activities and functions, and documents decisions and deliberations, and relationship with the civic administration, the Province of Ontario, the County of York, the Village of Woodbridge before 1971, and the Regional Municipality of York after 1971.

There are duplicate copies for the years: 1983, 1986, and 1987; as well as one edition of "The Blue and White Anniversary Issue, 1853-1982." Some of the yearbooks contain inscriptions to specific individuals, including: Emma Dickinson (1920-1921), M. Anderson (1940-1941), Keith G. Rose (1955), E.D. Jones (1970, 1974-1979), and "Sherry" (1991, with signatures and notes from classmates).
