This series contains correspondence and other records pertaining to Archibald McLachlin’s position as returning Officer for West Elgin County for the election years 1878, 1879, and 1882, and the returning Officer for East Elgin County for the election year 1886. Letters from the Attorney General Department, voter registration sheets, polling station reports, and copies of the Dominion Election Act and Ontario Election Act are included. Also included are unused ballots for the 1882 Dominion election in the West riding of Elgin County. The ballots are erroneously dated “1822.”
