Series consists of a small number of files relating to Davies’ research during the Second World War and immediately afterwards. Files on his work for the Defence Research Board and its constituent, the Defence Research Telecommunications Establishment (DRTE) which include administrative material, reports on visits to foreign defence research groups, Arctic research and telecommunications research, a section on the Canadian Alouette I and II, ISIS and Telstar satellites which includes agreements with NASA, planning documents, launches, and numerous articles and reports on these satellites.
After retirement, Davies began a project to write a history of the CRC. He died before finishing the project and the documents were kept by the CRC Library and then in the office of radio scientist Jack Belrose. The material was described and digitized by the Friends of CRC. Series consists reports, type-written documents, hand-drawn ionospheric drawings, posters and photographs. It also contains three DVDs with digital surrogates of most of the originals. The originals are arranged in the order that the Friends of the CRC noted in its inventory.
