The fonds consists of records that reflect the different roles that Janet played throughout her life as well as the various activities and functions she performed throughout the community. The fonds is arranged into five series and then various subseries, all of which reflect Janet’s diverse activities.

The majority of the records are textual (i.e. minutes, reports, correspondence, published material, newspapers, etc.) although there is also a sizable photograph collection as well as some maps and plans and even artwork. Fonds consists of: Binder Twine Festival programs, posters, artwork, committee minutes, advertising, press releases, copies of by-laws, books, correspondence, account ledgers, newsletters, speeches, research notes, newspaper clippings, cassette tapes, Kleinburg/community history notes (eg. Fonds consists of textual records (correspondence, party lists and invitations to social events, fan mail, articles written by and about Pierre Berton, and newspaper clippings), photographs from 1886-2002, clothing and various other artifacts, awards and certificates, and publicity posters.

Series consists of all known surviving documentary evidence of the early Shunk and Keffer clans of Vaughan Township, Ontario. The series illustrates the role of the Keffers and Shunks in the Sherwood Grange (No. 205), as well as depicting the social and economic role of this type of organization in mid-19th century Vaughan.

Photographs

Series consists of photograhs depicting the people and places of early Vaughan as well as the post offices throughout Vaughan Township (Norberta wrote a book Chatting About the Post Offices of Vaughan Township, Ontario, published 1983), Norberta was also a long-time journalist with the Woodbridge and Vaughan News and thus some of the photos she used in her articles can also be found in this series.

Photograph showing the first and only location of the Edgeley post office which was also the general store. It was located on the south east corner of Thornhill Sideroad and the Fifth Concession of Vaughan Township, Ontario, now Hwy. 7 and Jane St. Mr. L. Arthur Whitmore, postmaster and general store owner, is seen here putting groceries in a buggy. In the buggy on the right is his father-in-law, William Reid, an Edgeley blacksmith, who was ready to leave for Concord to pick up the mail from the train at the Thornhill station. The Edgeley post office and store was closed on July 12, 1960. It was demolished when Jane St was widened and paved in 1965.

Series consists of images from WWI in which Addision Alexander and his brother Ross, both served. Many photos depict other men from Vaughan, Ontario who also joined the war. Includes some excellent scenes of camp life and the destruction wrought by the war in France.
