Harley Cummings fonds

Fonds consists of primary research material and photographs accumulated by Harley R. Cummings for his book "Early Days in Haliburton", in addition to the manuscript for the book. Fonds also consists of correspondence, including letters from the Honorable Leslie Frost, photographs, maps, and an original 1863 surveyor's diary for Eyre Township. Fonds also includes the C.R. Stewart diaries, dated 1902-1904. C.R. Stewart (1826-1905) was resident agent for the Canadian Land and Immigration Company and was the first settler in the Village of Haliburton. In his diaries he refers to Colonel Samuel Hughes and Mossom Boyd. Stewart's son, C.E. Stewart (1851-1921) was editor of the "Bobcaygeon Independent". Fonds also includes several historical papers and publications written by Cummings and others.

Geale-Rogers family fonds

Fonds consists of the personal and business records of the Geale, Hamilton, Peck, Barker, and Rogers families. Included are letters relating to World War I written by Beresford and Robert Hamilton and Heber and Harry Rogers; letters, diaries, journals of Richard Birdsall Rogers, superintending engineer of the Peterborough Lift Lock; and the records of Hon. Robert Hamilton, a factor of the Hudson's Bay Company stationed at Fort Edmonton. The fonds also contains stereographs, photographs, and a C.E. Goad fire insurance plan for the City of Peterborough, 1882. Items of interest include a group of photographs of the Trent Valley area and the construction of the Trent Valley Canal; Rogers family photographs of the Stoney Lake area and the Juniper Island Regatta; photographs of early aircraft and the Curtiss Aviation School; photographs of the hydraulic Lift Lock at Peterborough, Ontario, and one letter from Catharine Parr Traill to Robert Miles Hamilton.

Series A consists of business and legal papers of Kerr and Kerr Law firm which was run by William Kerr and his son, William F. Kerr. Included are many individual case files. Series B consists of records of Victoria College, Cobourg, Ontario. Included are papers dealing with the large land holdings of the College, historical documents relating to the College's early beginnings, and the land deals which allowed it to expand within the town of Cobourg and Haldimand Township, as well as the papers of the officers involved in the negotiations and the final move of the College to Toronto at the end of the nineteenth century. Series C consists of the personal papers and business correspondence and documents of John W. Kerr, William Kerr's brother, who was also a lawyer in Cobourg, Ontario.
