Thomas Willet Casey fonds
Fonds · 1810-1910, predominant 1880-1902

The Thomas Willet Casey fonds is arranged by the type of record, rather than by subject: correspondence; manuscripts; notebooks and scrapbooks; printed pamphlets and voters' lists. Two subject themes run throughout: research into pioneer days on the Bay of Quinte, and background material for the campaign for temperance and sobriety. Family and friends supported Casey occasionally giving him documents from earlier in the 19th century. From his family, Casey acquired a small ledger, the day book of the carding mill at the Stone Mills (Glenora) which his family had operated during the War of 1812. From the family of John C. Clark of Ernestown Township Casey acquired a record book of statute labour dated 1820. There are other early tidbits interfiled with Casey's own papers. Unfortunately, the provenance of many of these items is unknown. The greatest part of the material, however, are Casey's own, personal papers. The scrapbooks contain all the articles which he wrote for "Old Time Records", carefully mounted in order of date published. There are four files of statistics for use by Casey as an officer of the Sons of Temperance, and related files of temperance clippings and notes. Fonds consists of the following series: Correspondence, 1875-1904 Manuscripts, Genealogical and Historical Notes, 1810-1901 Notebooks and Scrapbooks Voters' Lists, Lennox and Addington, 1901; Published pamphlets Miscellaneous clippings and undated notes
