Published Books

Series consists of 3 books accumulated by the IODE Victoria-Guelph Chapter that documents the history of the IODE.. The titles include "I.O.D.E The Third Twenty-Five Years 1950-1975," "The Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire Golden Jubilee 1900-1950," and "A Crown of Life: The World of John McCrae." Some of these books contain plates dedicating the book to the IODE Victoria-Guelph Chapter.

Photograph Albums

Series consists of four photograph albums created and or accumulated by IODE-Victoria-Guelph Chapter. These albums contain images of various activities involving the IODE-Victoria Guelph Chapter. Two albums contain photographs taken during the Founder's Day Luncheon and one of a Christmas party. One album titled "Cross of Sacrifice" shows members at a re-dedication ceremony for the Cross of Sacrifice in first erected in 1925. Also contained with the photograph albums is a separate "Happy 100th Birthday I.O.D.E Ladies." The card contains photographs of students from a grade five class in Nain, Labrador.

Administration records

Series consists of administrative records of the IODE, Victoria-Guelph Chapter, dating from 1969 to 1999. Included in the series are correspondence, copies of the national IODE constitution for 1969 and 1979, chapter membership lists, annual reports for 1974-1976, 1982 ,and 1983, chapter recipe books, Founders Day records, provincial IODE newsletters, and one folder of agendas and procedures related to citizenship court. Also included is a history of the Guelph Chapter IODE. These records document the administrative activities of the IODE Victoria-Guelph Chapter.

The records are arranged by subject.


Series consists of minutes, resolutions, and clippings created or collected by the IODE, Victoria-Guelph Chapter. The records document the official business of the chapter. Note some of the minutes contain annual reports from the secretary and or reports from the Standard Bearer.

The records are arranged chronologically by year; however, minutes for the years 1970-1974, 2004-2006, and 2009-2011 are missing. Two folders contain documents that review activities for the years 2005 and 2006.

Included in this collection are the magazines Earthkeeper, Guelph Magazine, if magazine, Sparetime Magazine, the Wellington Business Digest, Our Town, Snippets in Ink, The Sovereign, Grand, Toque, Community Captured Guelph, The Loyalist Gazette, Rex, and more.

Collection has been arranged into fifteen series based on the title of the magazine.


This series consists of the work "Toque" produced quarterly highlighting various activities in the county of Wellington and the Waterloo Region.

The items are arranged by year, however, there may be gaps in the years covered.

Annual reports

Sub-series consists of public library annual reports. Included in this sub-series are annual operating reports, financial reports, annual grant applications and Dominion Bureau of Statistics labour surveys. These records demonstrate the Guelph Public Library's accountability to the City, governing provincial ministries and funding agencies for the funds received and services provided.

These records are arranged by year. Minutes are missing for the years 1895 and 1898.

Audio visual collection - Guelph Public Library

This collection consists of audio visual materials collected by the Guelph Public Library archives. These records cover a wide range of topics covering various aspects of the City of Guelph and its history. Included are materials created by Edward Johnson, the Guelph Light Opera Company, the Guelph Youth Orchestra, and Tamarack. Fonds also contains Roger's television episodes, the unveiling and dedication of a sculpture commemorating John Galt, the histories of Eden Mills, St. Joseph's Hospital, and Guelph's covered bridge.

Publicity and promotion records

Sub-series consists of publicity and promotional materials produced by the Guelph Public Library. Included in this sub-series are library program guides, flyers and brochures, library stationery, the Guelph Public Library newsletter, the Connections magazine, the contents of the 1903 datestone, index to the 1965 datestone and records relating to Library's 125th anniversary celebrations. Also included are audio tapes of the book review series and notes from talks about Guelph given on the local radio station, CKLA. These records document the Guelph's Public Library's public outreach activities and promotional programs.
