Fonds consists of several volumes of the manual RCOC Instructions and suggested amendments to the work.
Part I of the manual is titled Administration and Duties of Officers and deals with topics such as missions performed by Ordnance Ammunition Depots and the range of stockage and territory served; the operation and maintenance of various equipment; security issues; and the duties and responsibilities of various types of personnel.
Part III is titled Stock Control and is concerned with the issues such as the issuing, conditioning and disposal of stores; inspection and discrepancies; and stock records.
Part V is titled Work Measurement and Methods and deals with subjects such as time sheets; labour and production data; methods of improvement; and progress charts.
Part VII is titled Unit Accounting and deals with topics such as unit ledgers; receipt of stores, issue of stores, internal issues and receipts; and the repair and laundering of stores.
Part VIII is titled Manual of Ammunition and describes the various ammunition depot areas; the storing and handling of ammunition; ventilation and transportation; and fire prevention and first aid.
Part X is titled Unit Ammunition Instructions and deals with issues such as maintenance and salvage; safety precautions; and identifying the various types of ammunition.

Fonds consists of Weekly War Reviews that were published during the Second World War. The Reviews provide weekly updates on the movements of troops and ships, territorial gains and losses, and casualties of both Allied and enemy forces in the many different military theatres. These theatres include Russia, Libya, the Philippines, Malaya, China, Burma, and the Metropolitan. Details of important battles/operations such as Stalingrad and the Battle of Midway are recorded, and information regarding the success of bombing raids gleaned from photographic reconnaissance is also provided. The Reviews also contain any miscellaneous intelligence, such as new breakthroughs in technology. Arranged in chronological and numerical order.

Fonds consists of five volumes of various documents pertaining to the Advisory Committee on Northern Development (ACND). This includes minutes of meetings, correspondence, memoranda, maps, graphical records, numerical summaries and interdepartmental committee reports. The third volume includes a translation of a Russian document, entitled “In the Heart of the Arctic”, that was prepared by the Defence Scientific Information Service of the Defence Research Board in 1955. Among others, items discussed at the ACND meetings include the following: Inuit settlement, the Northwest Highway System, petroleum in the Arctic, proposed pipelines, oil exploration, arctic expeditions, US hydrographic operations, arctic re-supply, United States Air Force (USAF) activities, the Distant Early Warning Line, the Mid-Canada Line, airstrips in the Far North, navigation in the Hudson Strait and hydroelectric developments in the Yukon.

Fonds consists of situation reports from September 1967 to March 1974. They begin being titled, “Director General Operations Daily Situation Report” before changing to “Deputy Chief Operations and Reserved Daily Situation Report” in February 1968. They were then named “Canadian Armed Forces Daily Situation Report” from October 1972 onwards. They were collected in monthly reports, though a synopsis of activity was provided for each day. All three branches (Army, Air Force, and Navy) provide an account of what happened each day. Information provided includes: both domestic and international operations, search and rescue endeavours, peace operations, updates on the political and military situation of various countries where Canada was involved in (i.e. Cyprus), ship positions, special flights, northern patrol and other daily occurrences within the military.

Fonds consist mainly of documents gathered by Hal Smith for the writing of a series of studies for the Directorate of History and Heritage on the Hydrofoil project and on sonar development in the Royal Canadian Navy. These include reports, minutes of meetings, memoranda and other papers from the Defence Research Board, the Naval Staff, the Naval Board, the Hydrofoil Project Manager, the Naval Research Establishment, De Havilland Aircraft of Canada and the Canadian Naval Technical History Association. There is also a twenty-page biographical treatment of an Electrical (Engineer) Officer's experiences in the RCN from 1945 until 1966. The document provides some of the history behind the RCN's Research and Development work in Digital Automatic Tracking and Ranging (DATAR), Digital Tactical Data Systems (DFCS). A two-page fax also provides bibliographical information on DATAR (cancelled in the late 1950's). Fonds is comprised of the following series:
