Fonds consists of textual information of the Youth Training and Employment Program (YTEP) in 1986, as well as memoranda, briefing notes, tables, and reports on the YTEP. Includes reports on the purpose of the YTEP, different options available for Youth Employment Programs, and feasible options for expansion within the Department of National Defence. There is also an audit report on the YTEP and includes distribution lists dealing with recruiting directive 2/86 and National Defence Headquarters (NDHQ) instruction ADM (Per) 5/86. Also includes a memorandum dealing with seven different options designed to assist young Canadians in the transition from school to the work force, and a distribution list for NDHQ Instruction DCDS 5/86 for the Student Youth Employment Program (SYEP).

This series consists of several volumes, both Confidential and Unclassified, published between 1950 and 1960. The 10 volumes included in the series contain research reports detailing the design and creation of a steam plant installation called Yarrow-English Electric Advanced Design, or YEAD-1. Each volume consists of several chapters of written documentation, photographs, and technical diagrams pertaining to the YEAD-1 Shore Trials. The main propulsion unit and all associated systems and components are fully specified in Volume 1. Reports and the reasons for the introduction of any novel features are fully explained in volumes 2 to 8. The estimated overall performance of the installation as a whole forms the subject of volume 9. Volume 10 includes the final report and it describes the various stages of the work undertaken and completed. The series is arranged in numerical order by the volume number.

Series consists of classified documents regarding the investigation of the 1947 Yarrow – English Electric Advanced Steam Investigation into British naval machinery development for their Daring-class destroyers’ machinery. Includes a world survey of existing high steam pressure and temperature practices, technical reports and a final report with conclusions and recommendations. Also includes research reports by the 1950 Yarrow – English Electric Advanced Steam Investigation and the Yarrow & Co, Ltd. regarding naval propulsion machinery including: floor plates, gratings, ladders, handrails and stanchions; experimental rotor forgings; plastic piping and components; high speed auxiliary turbine and epicyclic gears; the main circulating water system; and condensers. The reports also covered circulating water sea trials of HMS Broadsword. The series is arranged in numerical order by the YE reference number.

Series consists documents from the Yarrow Admiralty Research Department (YARD) for a 1949 contract for the development in machinery design for Anti-Submarine frigates to meet the requirements of the Royal Navy (RN) and the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN). There are documents for other projects as well: the design of a machinery installation for a General Purpose Frigate to meet the requirements of the Royal Navy; the design of a machinery installation for a twin screw, fast escort vessel, which ultimately became the guided missile destroyer; the development of a specification and guidance drawings for a 30,000 SHP twin-screw machinery installation for anti-submarine frigates.and an investigation into the feasibility of a combined steam and gas turbine propulsion machinery installation, suitable for destroyers and large vessels. Includes reports, specifications, technical documents and other documents. Some of the major subjects covered include: frigates, propulsion and ships’ design. Files exist for each destination and there are also a notes file for the European leg and one for the tour as a whole. Files are arranged in order of the itinerary with the general notes being located at the end of the subseries along with a file for maps of the tour.

Fonds consists of photographs depicting the women’s service dress uniform introduced in 1979. Along with the modified jacket and skirt, other items illustrated include the winter hat, the gabardine raincoat, the overcoat, the V-neck sweater and the leather purse. Accompanying the photographs is a letter signed by N.A. Buckingham, Director of Ceremonial for the Chief of the Defence Staff, which discusses the method by which the new uniform was to be introduced. Within this letter, a brief description of each item is provided.

Fonds consists of material documenting William Stanley Lockhart's service with the Royal Flying Corps and with the Royal Air Force during the First World War (1917-1919). Includes his school notes, flying logbook, and military educational manuals. Also includes are aircraft logbooks and engine manual, and correspondence related to Lockhart's Electric Synchronized Gear invention. There are also photographs of Lockhart in uniform, his crashed Sopwith Camel, and a Camel taking off from the HMAS Sydney.
