Collection consists of files concerning merchant ships that sunk in Canadian waters during the Second World War. Files contain particulars of attacks on merchant ships (including details in regards to the ship and the conditions of the attack); any documents in regards to the sinking of the ship (diary of events, inquiries into the sinking, etc); transcripts of evidence created after the sinking; and other relevant documents in regards to the ship, its passengers, or the attack. Collection also includes miscellaneous documents used in research, including general information relating to sinkings and U-boats, extracts from war logs, rough notes and information on naval directories and their correspondence. Additionally, the collection contains a copy of Lisa Dillon's resme as welllas two of her compilations: List of RG 24 and 83-84/167 Accession File Titles" and "Naval Service Headquarters, 1939-1945: A Guide to Historical Sources and Notes on Personnel Organization".

Fonds consists of a short black and white film entitled “North Canadian Incident” about the crash of a PB-1 American navy observation plane near Natashquan, Quebec probably in 1944. The film shows scenes of the American civilian work crew who were sent from Presque Isle, Maine to fix the plane including activities like setting up camp, cooking, eating, and gathering wood. The pilot and flight engineer arrived and flew the plane back to the naval base at Quonset Point, Rhode Island where it was presented to the Navy. The film places emphasis on the ways that the American government was saving money by fixing the plane instead of building a new one.

Fonds consists of microfilmed records, mostly from the 1940s, dealing with topics such as the development of Allied grand strategy, interservice rivalries, wartime operations planning, the battle for the Atlantic, and the Pacific War. Fonds contains a large amount of correspondence and memoranda; Admiral King's speeches; his personal copies of the minutes of the Combined Chief of Staff meetings, 1941-1945; agenda, minutes and working papers for conferences between King and Admiral Chester W. Nimitz; studies of the office of the Chief of Naval Operations and the Navy Department; postwar studies of logistics and supply systems; and material on the postwar armed services unification controversy. Collection consists of photographs and papers from Canada Corner, the welcome centre for Canadian Forces in Paris, France in 1944-1946. Canada Corner was run by the Canadian Forces Hospitality and Information Bureau. The photographs show some of the staff and visitors, including Jacqueline Guerret. There is, as well, one photograph of Jacqueline Guerret taken several decades later. The textual records consist of poems entitled “Ode to a Canadian”, “Cynara”, and “Long Ago”. Also included is a document entitled “Diary of a Canadian on 7 Days Leave in Paris”, as well as one called “If You Marry French Girls!”. These documents are generally anecdotal, save for one entitled “Knights of Columbus Canadian War Services”, which is a simple newsletter that lists senior appointments of the Knights of Columbus War Services Overseas, dated 1 November 1945. There are also two menus, one autographed extensively as well as one with a personal farewell.

Collection consists of an account of Commander J.H. (Harris) MacLean’s naval career including his voyage through the Northwest Passage, and a copy of the eulogy delivered at Commander MacLean’s funeral. Both were written by Ian Greenwood from interviews he conducted with Commander MacLean beginning in November 2006. The collection also includes various black and white photographs of HMCS Labrador and her crew as they erected beacons during their voyage through the Northwest Passage. A black and white photograph of the crew of HMCS Margaree and four colour photos, three of HMCS Margaree, and one of ships moored at Pearl Harbour are also part of the collection. Also includes various group photos from a meeting of the Explorers Club of New York in 1956, a photo of 2nd Escort Squadron Hockey team taken in Tokyo Japan in February 1962, several photos of groups of men from HMCS Discovery and HMCS Kings. Includes black and white photographs of graduating classes from Fleet School, HMCS Naden, Esquimalt. Miscellaneous black and white photos of various ships, people, icebergs, sailors, and planes are also part of the collection.

Fonds consists of material photocopied at the U.S. National Archives, Washington, D.C. (RG 38) which deals mainly with the reports from U.S. Naval Attaché in Canada for the period 1940-1946. Consequently, this fond includes mostly; Intelligence reports issued in Ottawa, London (GB), and Vancouver discussing the situation of the navy in Canada, its war effort in the Pacific, and post-war issues. There is a memo by J.R. Palmer, as well as notes written by Dr. R Sarty. The 11 folders are organized by the registration and file numbers as well as the dates which correspond to the original organization of the papers.

Collection consists of material used by Owen A. Cooke and Norman Hillmer in the preparation of biographies for the Dictionary of Canadian Biography (DCB). Includes research and working papers, correspondence with representatives from the DCB, bibliographies of sources and copies of final versions of the biographies. Some copies of the biographies have been translated into French. Also includes an incomplete interview with Major D.A. McAlpine and Colonel Dan Gordon Loomis conducted by Owen Cooke in 1973. Fonds consists of one oversize ledger entitled “Record of Service OMFC Medical Units”. The document contains information on various medical units during the First World War including unit names, dates and commanding officers. The entries also include a remarks section that makes note of various matters of interest such as notable individuals, transfer of patients, or events such as bombings or the awarding of medals. Certain entries in the ledger are followed by a skeleton history of the unit. There are 89 entries in total. Additionally, there is a two-part photocopied map of the south of England enclosed with No. 2 Advanced Depot Medical Stores. The map includes many of the units mentioned in the ledger but does not appear to be contemporaneous with it.

Fonds consists of two controller’s log books for the Canadian Forces Operations Centre (3 Aug 1969 – 2 Jul 1970) and its successor, the National Defence Command Centre (18 May 1971 – 19 Feb 1972). The log was an official document and was to be used by Duty Controllers and Operations “B” as an operational log book. Each operator was to sign on and off duty.

Fonds consists of station information bulletins from the following Canadian Forces Supplementary Radio Stations: Ladner and Masset in BC, Coverdale in NB, Leitrim and Gloucester in ON, Alert and Inuvik in NWT, Gander in NF, Flin Flon in MB, and in Bermuda. Information bulletins were monthly, and contained lists of visitors to the station, any maintenance done, announcements of social events, special courses, changes in personnel, changes in living quarters, and generally everything notable that happened in and around the station in a particular month.

The purpose of the manual was too acquaint the trainee with: the basic principles of woodworking; selection and preparation of materials; practice in the use of hand tools and power machinery while carrying out various projects and familiarization with various types of wood fastenings, hardware, abrasive papers and finishing.
