Herbie! by Bing Coughlin

A Canadian Cartoon book called Herbie! written by William Garnet "Bing" Coughlin (1905-2000). Coughlin served in the Canadian Army in the Second World War with the 4th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards where he began cartooning. Coughlin’s ubiquitous Canadian foot soldier was "Herbie." An unnamed French Canadian enlisted man with toque and mustache also appears with Herbie in many cartoons.

Series 3 includes 8 Volumes the Bystander's Fragements from France, a set of First World War cartoons created by British humorist and cartoonist Capt. Bruce Bairnsfather, as well as 3 Volumes of Canada in Khaki, a First World War magazine that was published in Toronto by the Musson Book Company and by the Canadian War Records Office "to illustrate Canadians’ actions during World War I and raise money for the Canadian War Memorial Fund."
