Collection is comprised of research material accumulated or created by Murray VanZanten during the course of his research into early financial institutions in St. Thomas and Elgin County. The records were collected and compiled ca. 2008-2010, and organized according to either general information about all the financial institutions in St. Thomas and Elgin County, or divided into subject files about each individual bank. The individual banks are:

Fonds consists of various records relating to the publication "Birds of Elgin County" (2004), including research materials, project proposal/ prospectus, correspondence and financial data, promotional materials and reviews, and two copies of the book - one unsigned softcover copy of the first printing, and one hardcover copy of the first printing signed by most but not all book contributors and members of the project coordinating committee.

Fonds consists of approximately 200 file cards with typescript summaries of notices originally published 1902-1918 in the St. Thomas Daily Times, the St. Thomas Evening Journal, London Free Press and other newspapers relating to the Southwestern Traction Company, the London and Lake Erie Railway and Transportation Company, and the London & Port Stanley Railway.

Fonds consists of scrapbooks compiled by Elgin County Pioneer Museum staff members and volunteers to document their own activities as well as significant events in St. Thomas and Elgin County. Fonds also contains a scrapbook dedicated to information about Jumbo the Elephant.

Fonds consists of the minutes of the Dutton 75 Women's Institute meetings as well as financial information and membership lists.

Fonds contains photographs documenting the history of the Aylmer Fair, predominantly from 1974-1982, as well as newspaper clippings relating to the 1983 Fair and and entry tags and ribbons from 1995 and 1996.

The Aylmer Centennial Garden and Horticultural Society fonds consists of 3 scrapbooks, and associated negatives, encompassing the years 1972-1997, that document the Society's meetings, activities, events, and members.
