File consists of five (5) sets of papers originally owned by Arthur T.H. Williams. It includes: (1) Page removed from an unknown book inscribed to "Arthur T. H. Williams from his affectionate Mamma Sarah S. Williams" also inscribed to "Lilian Williams from Papa Penryn;" (2) Four (4) postcards, dated 1880 addressed to A. T. H. Williams; (3) Envelope stamped 1861 addressed to "Arthur H. Williams Esq Port Hope C. W.;" (4) Envelope addressed "Arthur T. H. Williams Esq MP Ottawa, O." 1881; (5) A postcard postmarked 1907 sent to Mrs. Passmore, Hill & Dale, Port Hope. Scene on front is "R. N. W. M Police Barracks Regina tower is where Louis Riel was hanged."

Collection consists of a large amount of information on Port Hope, the former Township of Hope (Hope Township), and surrounding area. Some of the subjects covered are family histories, churches, hydro power, organizations, clubs and societies, floods, Port Hope harbour, historical information on the town and area, houses, public buildings, industry and small businesses, railways, viaducts and bridges along with original newspapers reflecting on the history of Port Hope as well as information on municipal matters and various government reports. The historical information covers a period from the mid-19th century to 2000. The fonds also consists of a large number of photographs. It also consists of a number of newspaper editions including special editions.

The correspondence dates as early as Jul 1930 from Port Hope Hydro Electric Commission to the Hydro Electric Commission in Toronto.

It includes: Hydro Rates - Port Hope Hydro Commission 1967; "Port Hope Hydro Adopts New Image" sketch of building at 5 Mill Street South; Invitation, Ontario Municipal Electric Association Testimonial Dinner, Greenwood Tower Inn, Port Hope, 1981; Two (2) Christmas cards; By-law 1428 to establish the Hydro Electric Commission of the Town of Port Hope, 1962 (copy); "Street Lighting" retyped document relating to the early years of Port Hope Hydro (29 pages); Notes written on the back of a Port Hope Bank of Nova Scotia cheque.
