Fonds consists of one handwritten volume which is an invoice book kept by B. Thorne and Company in the operation of its import and export business. The invoice book appears to cover only the importing operations of the company. The goods, imported from Liverpool and London, are mainly metal products such as Norfolk latches, iron weights, sofa springs, sugar tongs, and stoves. The prices of the goods and the names of the customers are included.

Collection consists of 49 photographs including cabinet cards, cartes de visite, an album containing 28 portraits and 3 stereographs. Photographs show formal group and individual portraits of several generations of two prominent families in nineteenth century Ontario - the Baldwins and the Cawthras. Robert Baldwin was a leading Upper Canadian Reform politician and an architect of Responsible Goverment. Photographs in this collection are of the family of Baldwin's son, Robert Junior, and his granddaughter, Elizabeth Mary Baldwin.

Collection also includes an album containing cabinet cards showing descendants of William Cawthra, one of Upper Canada's wealthiest merchants. The album is identified on inside cover as being "from Anthony Adamson".

Collection consists of newspaper clippings and manuscript articles about the Ballantyne family, and other records of the Ballantyne family, including a family register (listing birth and christening dates of the children of James Ballantyne and Elizabeth Whitson), and a will of Thomas Ballantyne. Manuscripts include "Reminiscences of the Ballantynes," written by Mr. Wm. Ballantyne of Washington, D.C., and "The Ballantyne Family in America," by W.S. Dingman, and published in the Stratford Beacon-Herald. Newspaper clippings contains obituaries and marriage notices of Ballantyne family members, articles relating to the opening of the Mary Ballantyne Nurses Residence at the Stratford General Hospital, and a notice of Mrs. James Metcalfe's 90th birthday celebration.

Fonds consists of a diary kept by teacher Benjamin Rothwell from 1870 to 1881, while he was teaching at the Listowel Public School. In addition, fonds contains a volume of speeches delivered by Rothwell between 1871 and 1877. Much of the diary is concerned with Rothwell's perceptions of local and world events, and little mention is made of teaching. The speeches on the other hand give a clear idea of Rothwell's ideas and recommendations relating to education in Ontario.

Fonds also consists of a photocopy of a holographic transcript made of the diary.

Records of Ethel Constance Blake consists of two volumes of notations and clippings on the subjects of The Great War and current events between 1914 and 1916.

Fonds also contains photographs taken and accumulated by the Bensons relating to the family and their activities in Port Hope, St. Catharines and other locations. This includes portraits of individuals, mainly Benson family members and friends. This also includes views of Port Hope and St. Catharines, in addition to other parts of the province. This series has been divided into seven sub-series based on content; including portraits of Benson family members and friends, photographs of cities and towns in Ontario, photographs of militia groups, photographs of Benson family homes, photographs of railroads, leisure activities, stereographs, and other miscellaneous photos acquired by the Benson family.

Fonds also includes records relative to the activities of Port Hope barristers Thomas Trevor Baines and John Wright, which were acquired by the Benson family.

Fonds also includes a volume of account records of a practice of Dr. P. H. Salter of Port Hope, Ontario.

Fonds also contains a field notebook created between 1842 and 1844 by land surveyor John Knatchbull Roche.

Fonds consists primarily of architectural drawings, project-related photographs and textual records, and business and administrative records documenting the architectural career of Bernard Rasch.

These records date back to Rasch's student days in the late 1960s and the establishment of his own firm in 1973. They also include the projects in which Rasch was the lead when he was a partner in the firms Rasch & Au Architects and Rasch, Au & Habash Architects.

Fonds also includes architectural records created by other firms where Rasch was an employee before launching his own practice, mainly Ryan & Lee Architects and Venchiarutti & Venchiarutti. There are also miscellaneous other architectural records that were acquired by Rasch and likely used by him for reference purposes.

The project-related records document the design and construction of buildings that were built, but also consist of plans for structures that were never realized. Major built projects include offices for the City of Toronto, various branches of the Sterling Trust and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and stores for Canadian Tire affiliates. The majority of the projects, however, relate to the construction or alteration of houses, apartment projects and commercial buildings; also represented are industrial, recreational and institutional buildings. While almost all of the projects were located in the Greater Toronto Area, projects in Nova Scotia, British Columbia, the United States and Costa Rica were also undertaken.

Drawings comprising this fonds document various stages of individual projects, mainly preliminary and construction stages. They include original sketches, tracings, photomechanical reproductions and CAD printouts.

Other project-related records may include specifications, contracts, notes, maps, topographical plans and photographs.

Non-project records in this fonds include business and administrative records documenting the operations of Rasch's practice, information about other architects, and records documenting Rasch's professional activities and community involvement outside his practice.

Fonds consists of a microfilm copy of a volume containing silhouettes created by Bernhard Moll. Volume contains one hundred and fifty one silhouettes of various individuals, including members of the Moll, Fohrmann, Purcell, Sanders, Herlitz and Meyer families. The families represented in the silhouettes are mostly from Charleston, Philadelphia, and New York. An index of silhouette subjects is available at the beginning of the volume.
