Records also relate to his settlement in Gananoque and to his various roles such as Justice of the Peace; Colonel in the 2nd Regiment of the Leeds Militia; Surveyor of Highways and Roads; and Commissioner. Records include correspondence; legal documents; reports; receipts; and militia returns and orders. Fonds also include records created and accumulated by Joel Stone's relatives. Records include genealogical information, printed materials, transcriptions and clippings. Subjects include the legal rights of Loyalists in the United States during and after the American Revolution; economic conditions in the late 18th century; politics; the War of 1812; and the Alien Act of 1814.

The Andrew Merrilees collection is the result of Merrilees' collecting activities in the areas of railways, shippings, and Toronto's social life over many years. Much of the collection consists of published material such as pamphlets and books. However, Mr. Merrilees acquired a considerable amount of original archival material as well. This includes: panoramic photographs taken by Mr. Rickard, owner of the Panoramic Camera Company in Toronto; photos of locomotives built by the Canadian Locomotive Company and taken by Mr. Henderson of Kingston; photos by Ira Bexted of rural scenes from the 1930's; photos of Toronto scenes by Frank W. Micklethwaite; photos of buildings and street scenes in and around Toronto in the 1890's; watercolours, drawings and prints of buildings and street scenes in Toronto, Fort Erie, and Hamilton by James Blomfield; and technical drawings of the Toronto Railway Company showing intersections and switches. Collection consists of 76 pamphlets and other printed materials accumulated by Sarah Murray that cover a wide variety of topics. The majority of the collection consists of theatre and concert programmes, dating between ca. 1870 and 1955, for performances at a number of Toronto venues, including the Princess Theatre, the Royal Alexandra Theatre, Massey Music Hall, the Grand Opera House, Pavilion Music Hall, the Toronto Conservatory of Music, Guild Hall, the Horticultural Gardens Pavilion, Maple Leaf Gardens, Rolleston House, and the Northern Vocation School Auditorium. A number of these performances were organized or given by the following groups: Toronto Choral Society, Toronto Philharmonic Society, Toronto Festival Chorus, Clef Choral Club, Mendelssohn Choir, and the North Toronto Collegiate Institute Choral and Instrumental Groups. The collection also contains numerous pamphlets, brochures, and newspaper clippings dating from 1891 to 1936, containing information about the city of Toronto's sights and events, such as fairs, races, exhibitions, and sporting events. Other brochures and pamphlets pertain to health and leisure subjects. Also included are pro-Laurier political pamphlets from 1904-1908, as well as a few books, almanacs, calendars, invitations, cards, and advertisements.
