Subseries contains Professed Sisters’ Chorus lyrics about the move to the Motherhouse in 1953, scripts for plays performed by the Sisters influenced by existing works, scripts for plays detailing the history of the Sisters’ community, a Christmas pageant, published religious plays (1912-1954), and a 125th anniversary production playbill. There is also a scrapbook for “Our Little Design,” a tribute to St. Joseph and all the General Superiors from 1868-1986. This scrapbook includes programs for the play, colour photographs of the performance, photographic negatives, thank you cards and the play script.

Subseries contains information on the Sisters’ Groups at Mt. St. Joseph including group member lists and histories highlighting important Sisters and events, correspondence on topics such as the 1977 renovation plans and a timeline history of the local house from 1959 onwards. There are also memos related to Sisters’ appointments, living arrangements and concerning the establishment of group living at the Mount. Also found are health unit policies, and two meditation booklets for the Feast of St. Joseph and the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. Furthermore, there is a scrapbook for Mt. St. Joseph Group 7, 1998-2000 [?]. This scrapbook includes a members’ list, a eulogy for Sr. Mary Phyllis, and photographs from various events including Mother St. John Fontbonne’s Feast Day, Christmas celebrations, All Soul’s Day and Sr. Chrysostom Murphy’s Feast Day, as well as photographs in remembrance of Sr. Theresa Marie Caillouette’s era as the General Superior.

Fatima Hall

Fatima Hall was established in 1957 in a section of the original Mount St. Joseph building (former Hellmuth College) for a project called the Aspirancy (1957-1967). The Aspirancy provided girls who were inclined to religious life an opportunity to study their vocation and complete their high school before entering as postulants. This subseries contains pamphlets for the Fatima Hall Aspirancy or Junior Seminary, programs for plays put on by the Aspirancy students such as Halo Round Star which were a series of performances organized in honour of Mother Margaret Coughlin, the General Superior, (includes photographs and a tribute), and a local history of the former Mount St. Joseph and Fatima Hall. There are also aspirant student lists, newspaper clippings related to Fatima Hall, and a scrapbook dedicated to the demolition of Fatima Hall in 1976. The original Mount St. Joseph building housed a Kindergarten and pre-kindergarten which ran from 1954 to 1975 in the basement of the chapel for children aged four to six years who lived outside London. This subseries contains a Kindergarten ledger for 1961-1975.

Ignatia Hall

Ignatia Hall was the infirmary wing of Mount St. Joseph Motherhouse built as a Centennial Project in 1968; it housed Senior Sisters as well as members of the Generalate and the Novice classrooms. Subseries contains a local history of Ignatia Hall, reports and personnel information, correspondence regarding plans for Ignatia Hall. There are also furniture receipts, furniture donation logs and step-by-step instructions for the blessing of the new altar for Ignatia Hall. Additionally, there is a diary containing “Ignatia History” written by Sr. Marguerite Sullivan, and a residence list of Sisters who were residents of Ignatia Hall (1982-1987), and a Pre-Chapter update 1975-1991 which discusses notable occurrences at Ignatia Hall. Furthermore, there are Ignatia Hall history Chronicles for 1975-1983 and 1996-1999, Ignatia Community Histories 2000-2001, “Ignatia Notes” newsletters 1997-1998, and Operational Reviews from 2000-2004 which are reports and presentations that deal with the history, values and goals of the Sisters in Ignatia Hall.

Motherhouse Move

Subseries contains documents, photographs, and newsclippings about the construction and move to the new Sisters’ Residence from the Mount St. Joseph Motherhouse. There are programs, song sheets, and correspondence about the turning of the sod at the new building on June 20, 2005. The subseries contains newsclippings and construction pamphlets pertaining to the new Sisters’ Residence, mainly on the environmentally friendly building design which won the Sisters of St. Joseph the Urban League’s Green Brick Award.
