Series consists of five (5) ledgers containing the minutes of Port Hope High School, the Joint Board of Grammar & Common Schools, High School Board of Port Hope, and the Port Hope High School Literary Society, 1856-1950. It also contains a student attendance and marks register (within a minute book), 1875-1882.
UntitledFile consists of a diploma received by M. Isabel Jones St. Louis (1897-1987) on 15th October 1919. Diploma is signed by the president, secretary, superintendent and mission of the Port Hope Hospital Training School for nurses, established in 1916. The diploma was presented to the Port Hope and District Hospital as Ms. St. Louis was the last surviving of that graduating class. It hung in the Port Hope & District Hospital until it closed.

UntitledItem is a High School Entrance Certificate for Port Hope High School issued by the Ontario Department of Education in the name of William Enscott, Jul 1936. It was signed by E.E. Snider (Secretary), and Geo. L. Brackenbury (Chairman).
UntitledThis series contains letters, security bonds, receipts, reports, etc., relating to the various common schools within the District of Brock. The amount of information generated by the school sections increased each year as more children attended schools and as more requests were made for the building of new schools. From 1844-1847 there are numerous school reports from each Township Superintendent, teacher salary receipts, and financial reports. The District Superintendent also produced many reports, including several asking for an increase in school grants. In 1846, the School Act was repealed and the office of the Township Superintendent was abolished. From 1847-1850 all of the work had to be completed by the District Superintendent, the Rev. W.H. Landon. The School Act was again repealed in 1849.
This series is divided into the following subseries:

C) Reports (divided by Townships)
D) Correspondence
The first subseries is School Section Meetings and is arranged by Township. These meetings were held in the common school house for the purpose of nominating and appointing trustees.
The second subseries contains records relating to the apportionment of the School fund and includes a number of receipts and requisitions. The subseries is further broken down into two sub-subseries: Trustees and Teachers. Both contain records related to the payment of teachers' salaries and the appropriating of the School Fund.
The third subseries is divided by Townships and consists of entitled Reports and annual reports by the Town Superintendent for the District School Sections, which were sent to the District Superintendent. With the repeal of the School Act in 1846, the reports were created by the Trustees of the School Sections and sent to the District Superintendent.
The last subseries includes correspondence to and from the Superintendent of Education for the District of Brock and securities for that position. There is also correspondence to Council from the Township Superintendents regarding keeping the School Sections in their existing state. There are securities for the position of Township Superintendent and miscellaneous correspondence as well, including several related to the unbecoming behaviour of certain teachers.

UntitledIn September of 1966 several former students and teachers held a meeting to discuss plans for a grand reunion of all students and teachers to be held in 1967 before the building was demolished. Early in 1967, a commemorative coin was commissioned to celebrate the event as well as raise additional funds for the reunion. The reunion was held on August 4-7, 1967.
The fonds consists of photographs and correspondence, publicity materials, a commemorative coin and its casting, and a rubber stamp.

This fonds would be of interest to researchers studying the architecture of old schools, the actual reunion of St. Thomas Collegiate Institute in 1967, and the lives of students and former teachers that were associated with this school. The pictures provide a pictorial of what times were like for the school over the years and also the attendees at the reunion.

The fonds contains resources used and created in the compilation of The London Township History Book. The two-volume book details the history of London, Ontario and its surrounding areas, detailing multiple elements such as geography, industry, and community. The fonds contains thirty two series; series 1-9 relate to the administration of the book project proper; series 10-25 relate to the chapters of VOlume 1 of the London Township History Book (one series per chapter).
UntitledThe Marsh Store was a community hub for Coldstream and Lobo Township. There are eight series. These include store records, sawmill and gristmill records, and woollen mill records. Other businesses that operated out of there were: the Coldstream Telephone Company ; Lobo Mutual Fire Insurance; and the Great Western Railway and Telegraph Company. Of special interest are the magazines and books located in the Public Library collection which also operated out of the Marsh Store. Jacob Marsh was also involved with the local council which also operated from his store.
