Bottom, 1968-71; Peter McGillen, 1928-73; Eugene Forsey, 1969; Peterborough Examiner, 1945-53, chiefly with Robertson Davies; research notes and thesis while a student at Queen’s University, 1930-1935; some papers related to his travel and work with the Department of Labour, 1941-69; poetry and other literary works by Pammett; together with correspondence and research materials related to the local history of Peterborough, the Trent Canal, Irish emigration, the Grand Trunk Railway, the Peterborough Exhibition, Peterborough Collegiate and Vocational School, Ontario agriculture and the Kawarthas.

The collection contains a 1963 issue of the students’ journal Aurore and a photographic document autographed by Bishop Louis Levesque on October 22, 1959. The collection includes one box of textual and photographic documents.

The collection includes an incomplete series of the newspaper L'Écho des Jeunes (October 1999 to May 2001). A document listing the evening courses offered by Hearst High School in 1969-1970, is also part of the collection.

The fonds contains documents relating to Brigitte Labelle Lacroix’s school years at a catholic elementary school named Saint-Pascal-Baylon in the Côtes-Des-Neiges neighborhood in Montreal. Among the documents are notebooks containing daily homework exercises in composition, grammar, music, drawing and so on. In addition to these documents, some textbooks published in the 1920s are also found in the fonds. Also part of the fonds are notebooks belonging to Bernadette Labelle, Brigitte’s mother, when she was a student at the elementary school in Saint-Janvier, Quebec at the end of the 19th century.

The collection contains photographic documents, newspaper clippings, correspondence and other textual documents relating to the professional and personal life of the donor and her family. The Fillion-Pope collection also includes the École secondaire Thériault students’ yearbooks from 1973 to 2002 and copies of Alerte, a student journal at Le Collège Universitaire de Hearst, in the early 1970’s.

Dr. James T. Angus was the first Dean of Education for Lakehead University.

The fonds consist of Dr Angus's copies of correspondence, reports, memos, agenda and minutes, and printed material related to the integration of Lakehead Teachers' College into Lakehead University; establishment of the Faculty of Education; graduate programs in education; program for training Indigenous teachers for First Nations schools in Northwestern Ontario. Activities documented include policy, procedures and programme development, budget planning, proposals, appraisals and surveys; evolution of the faculty's administrative structure; development of curriculum and delivery of courses.

The records document the management and administration of the Lakehead University Library, including the construction of the Library building, policies, acquisitions, staffing, and more. Correspondence provides insight into the workings of the library during a period of library and academic expansion, computerization and transition.

The Chief Librarian had a significant role as a member of University administration, and participated on Faculty Council, Senate, and numerous committees. Records here reflect those bodies and their work throughout this time period, including proposed and new programs, enrollment, new construction, governance, and long range planning.

The Library's role in partnership with other organizations provincially, nationally, and internationally is also represented. Many libraries were adopting new technologies at this time, which allowed for more communications and cooperation, on projects including computerized cataloguing and inter-library loan.

The time period covered in these records includes major developments and changes within Lakehead University, and in the cultures and technologies of universities and libraries.

Lakehead University evolved from the Lakehead Technical Institute (LTI), which was established in 1946. From LTI, Lakehead became the Lakehead College of Arts, Science and Technology in 1956. The Lakehead University Act was given Royal Assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario in 1965, and Lakehead University was established. The first degrees granted by Lakehead University were in Arts and Science in 1965.

The Lakehead University fonds includes records of administrative offices and former administrators.

The fonds includes audiovisual documents and digital reproductions of photos related to the operations of the Gosselin Lumber Company, in Carey Lake and Calstock. Some of these photos belonged to the donor, others were reproduced with the permission of Roland Caron and Georges Gosselin. The fonds also contains textual and audiovisual records about the Double Rink Hockey Tournament of Hearst (Tournoi des Deux Glaces). Documents and photos of the area’s school buildings as well as miscellaneous records complete the fonds.
