This photograph of the Carnegie Library was taken from across the street. In 1903 the cornerstone was laid for the first Free Public Library in Guelph on Nelson Crescent, and the building was completed by 1905. The money was fronted by Andrew Carnegie and the architect was W. Frye Colwill.
