The series contains records that document the Community Homophile Association of Toronto’s political advocacy dating from 1971 to 1974. It contains briefs that CHAT submitted to the Ontario and Federal Governments on the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Immigration Act and the Criminal Code. The series also includes material that reflects CHAT’s involvement with the National Gay Election Coalition, the Gay Alliance Towards Equality and the “We Demand” Ottawa Demonstration in 1971. It also contains records that documents CHAT’s involvement in municipal politics through its organization of the St. George riding All Candidates Meeting in 1973. The series is composed of briefs, correspondence, press releases, handbooks, legislative proceedings and clippings.

The series contains records from Canadians for Equal Marriage. It is composed of records that document the administrative functions, fundraising, strategy building, and lobbying efforts of the Canadians for Equal Marriage Campaign that ran from 2003 to 2005. The series includes minutes, correspondence, fact sheets on Members of Parliament and their ridings, resources on same sex marriage, financial reports and lobbying kits.
Founded in August 2003, Canadians for Equal Marriage was a multi-partisan national advocacy campaign organized to ensure the passage of federal legislation legalizing same-sex marriage. Incorporated in July 2004, CEM worked on lobbying the government, public education campaigns and media outreach to ensure the passage of equal marriage legislation, more specifically Bill C-38. The piece of legislation was designed to bring federal marriage laws into compliance with the Charter, extending equal marriage across the country. Although Canadians for Equal Marriage was structurally and legally independent from Egale, an agreement was made that ensured that Egale would be entitled to its assets once CEM disbanded, following the passage of the equal marriage legislation. Canadians for Equal Marriage partnered with organizations and individuals across the country including the Canadian Federation of Students, Egale Canada, the Canadian Labour Congress, the Canadian Psychological Association and the Canadian Association of Social Workers. The Campaign developed the www.equal-marriage.ca website, which provided supporters with resources and action steps to support the equal marriage campaign. This included information on how to email Members of Parliament, how to endorse the Canadians for Equal Marriage statement on equal marriage, how to donate or volunteer for the campaign and how to start a local CEM chapter.
The series is composed to records documenting the workshops and conferences that Egale Canada took part in, from from 1990 to 2005. It includes programmes, correspondence, agendas, press releases, reports and event packets from various international and local workshops and conferences.
In F0083-02 Oral Histories, one can find all of the archived audio from the Foolscap Gay Oral History Project. In this series, there is a file for every interview conducted as part of the Foolscap Gay Oral History Project (spanning across both the 2016-034 and 2017-059 accessions). These files are ordered alphabetically based on last name of interview subject, from A to Z. In cases where an interview subject was interviewed on more than one date, these interviews are labelled and ordered as First, Second, Third, etc, and kept in seperate files in successive order. Each file contains all digital recordings from said interview, as well as hard-copy audio-cassette tapes where available. Each tape (and the audio recordings from both sides of said tape) is considered a single item within the file. In cases where a single interview spans more than one tape, the tape item’s title is suffixed with (tape # of #). Digital recordings of audio are lettered A, B, C, D based on which side of which tape they are from, ordered alphabetically based on the order in which they were originally recorded.. All tapes have been digitized, with both sides (where a recording was present) available digitally in both original audio and noise-reduced audio. The titles of noise-reduced digital audio files are suffixed with "NR".
