The Herman Frederick Eberts fonds consists of reports and agreements relating to mining investments made by H.F. Eberts, primarily in Northern Ontario, including Marks Township, Steep Rock Lake, Black Bay, Rainy River, Loon Lake and Tache, mostly in the 1890s. Consists of letters written to Eberts by various contacts in Canada reporting on the sites and conditions of mines, assayers' reports, and formal agreements and titles to various properties. Also included is a report on pulpwood stands and the prospects for constructing a pulp mill in the Chapleau, Chester and Georgian Bay area, ca. 1900.
Eberts, Herman FrederickThis material was collected as part of Mark Chochla’s Master of Education thesis at Lakehead University, on the subject of education on the railway school cars in Northern Ontario, accepted in 1987. Most of the material, including interviews, was compiled in the previous year. The collection consists of two main series: files of research notes and taped interviews. The research notes include photocopies.

Richards, Thomas, fl. 1875-1882Fonds consists of the papers of Richard Faries, arranged in four series: daily journals (which cover Faries' activities as a missionary in Fort Hope, Fort Churchill and York Factory); notebooks; correspondence relating to his activities at York Factory and the publication of his Cree/English dictionary; and various publications dealing primarily with teaching the Christian religion to the Cree.

All contain information about his political activities as mayor of Port Arthur and Thunder Bay in the 1960s and 1970s and form an excellent insider's view of local political life in this period.

They are arranged into nine series and include taped interviews with past labor leaders, personal papers, research files containing historical clippings, local newspaper issues, copies of the Canadian Tribune, the Pacific Tribune and other left wing papers, books and promotional material relating to his occupation as a music salesman.

Smith, DavidThe John Allison fonds contains two school notebooks penned by John Allison as a boy of thirteen showing a superb example of penmanship. They also stand as an example of what was taught in schools at the time. Both were bound at a later date. Together, the two books form one series.
Allison, JohnFonds consists of the papers of Helmer Borg. The fonds, arranged into four series, concerns union and labor activities in the forest industries of Northwestern Ontario. The bulk of the material is composed of his reports and correspondence relating to his union organizing activities. The material also pertains peripherally to an internal dispute within the Lumber and Sawmill Workers Union, Local 2693, Port Arthur, which had, just prior to these records being created, been purged of "radical" elements.

Murray, S. C.Fonds consists of the papers of J.T. Horne. The papers are arranged into four series, the principal being a letter book (1907-1910) and a note and sketch book (1905-1909). The papers relate primarily to Horne's business activities as a lumber merchant though the sketch book concerns the construction of the Canadian Iron and Foundry Co.'s plant in Fort William in which Horne may have held an interest. This is an excellent source for determining the technical details of iron foundries in this period.
Horne, J.T.The Lake Superior Voyage Diary fonds consists of a diary written by an unknown author detailing a trip to Fort William on Lake Superior.
These papers consist of personal letters recounting family matters and official letters regarding immigration from the British Isles to Ontario, specifically among William C. Noxon, Alf Cooper and V.B. Wadsworth regarding a proposal to settle Hebridean farmers in Northwestern Ontario in 1924.
Wadsworth, Vernon B., 1844-1942This item consists of 66 pages of hand-drawn images by Mary V.R. Hand of items in what was known at the time as the Sir Henry Pellatt Collection of Arms and Armour.
Most pages have multiple drawings of different items in the collection. Generally, each drawing is labeled with information about item depicted, including origins and dates where they were known. The title page of this volume indicates that this is volume 1, but there is no mention of how many volumes in total there may be.
Items depicted include swords, rapiers and sabres, pikes, spears, daggers and stilettos, helmets and war hats, lobster-tails and morions, morningstars, halberds, axes, voulges, bills, scythes, spontoons, a war fork, partisans, suits of armour, various early guns (blunderbuss, wheel-lock, pistol), a flint-lock machine gun, various rifles (match-lock, flint- lock, wheel-lock), and hand cannons. These items cover a large time span, from the 15th century to the 19th century, and come from various countries; England, Spain, Italy, Indonesia, China, Egypt, Poland, Bavaria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Syria, Scotland, Turkey, and Albania.
