Collection consists of letters, photographs, and postcards received by way of correspondence between Linda Kearns, former archivist, and Jim G. Dempsey. The photographs and postcards are of soldiers in military dress or uniform. Included are pictures of William Pearson a Guelph native who died in the First World War. Other photographs include civilians, possibly relatives of Mr. Dempsey, and photographs of a pilgrimage he took to the battlefields of the First World War in the 1980s.

The textual components consist of three letters one written by William Pearson and another by a comrade who served with him. A third letter was addressed to Mrs. Pearson by an army chaplain. This letter provided news of her son’s death. Also of interest is a Guelph Evening Mercury Newspaper edition with an article about William Pearson’s death.

This fonds consists of photographs, newspaper clippings, letters, poetry, radio scripts, biographies and obituaries of local people and scrapbooks created, collected and or maintained by John David Higinbotham. The newspaper clippings are from the Guelph Mercury and include the Lore of Bygone Days and Glancing back to District’s Early days. The letters contain information about Guelph such as people’s reminisces of the city or requests for information pertaining to histories of various townships. Of note are letters received from Alexander Tilloch Galt, the grandson of John Galt, providing information on Alexander Galt’s family and friends. The photographs include images of a camp at Puslinch Lake, Rockwood Academy, and of poet Wallace Havelock Robb. These records document Higinbotham’s interest in local history. Collection consists primarily of deeds and mortgages pertaining to land and administrative transactions in the Guelph area. Many of the records in this collection deal with the properties located on lot 13 Albert Street of the Thompson Survey or with properties on lots 48 and 49 on the north side of Quebec Street.

This collection also contains records related to the property at 72 Macdonell Street consisting of mortgage papers, deeds and a floor plan. Also included are deeds issued by the Canada Company. Other records include marriage licenses and certificates, an adoption agreement, a bankruptcy notice, and wills.

Included are photographs of graduates from the Guelph General Hospital School of Nursing participating in graduation ceremonies and social events. Other photographs are of a parade in downtown Guelph, a train wreck in Galt, Ontario, and employees of Colonial Dresses Limited. The bulk of the textual records consist of newspaper clippings relating to graduates of the Guelph General Hospital School of Nursing. Included is a program for graduating exercises and brief notes related to the history of Colonial Dresses limited.

Fonds consists of records accumulated by Leone Hinds related to Guelph's Sesquicentennial in 1977. Included are pamphlets and booklets outlining the activities, lectures and other events held to celebrate Guelph's 150th birthday. There are also six postcards of various Guelph buildings and one plastic bag with the slogan "Keep Guelph Clean and Beautiful." Also of interest is a Guelph Public Library Rules and Regulations booklet.

The photographs document a wedding as it relates to several Guelph residents. A more detailed account of the activities of some of those pictured accompanies the photographs.

This fonds consists of photographs and textual records created and or received by the Matthew Wells Company in Guelph, Ontario during the course of their business activities. The photographs include aerial shots of the plant in Guelph and of one based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. There is also a photograph of the plant’s employees, a woman’s sport team and of the company’s products such as bottles of jams and jellies likely used for promotional or advertisement purposes. The textual components consist of the company’s stationary, examples of labels for use on their products, payment vouchers and a booklet entitled, NPPA Sponsored Fundamental Research Unraveling the Mysteries of Pickling, 70 Years of Progress: The Pickle Fair. Collection consists of ceramic ornaments, souvenir tea cups, and plates related to the history of Guelph. A number of the objects contain the image of the Guelph (Carnegie) Public Library or of the City of Guelph’s original coat of arms with the latin inscription "Fides, Professio, Fidelitas". Other plates include the city’s current coat of arms recreated in the late 1970s. Included in this collection is a dollar coin created for Guelph's sesquicentennial in 1977.

Collection consists of instruction manuals for aiming and firing, map reading, elementary drills, and a work focusing on infantry section leading. Many of the manuals contain illustrations and diagrams. These materials were used by Guelph's auxiliary police force during the Second World War.
