Fonds consists of the press release for Andrew B. Cox’s book, “Our Spirit Unbroken: Memoirs of a Prisoner of War”, published by Brucedale Press in 1999 and of a newspaper clipping from the Shoreline Beacon discussing the release of Cox’s book. Fonds also includes the transcript of a radio interview conducted with Andrew Cox during which he discusses the release of his book, what led him to join the Royal Air Force (RAF), the breakout of the Second World War, some of his flying experiences with the Hampden bombers, his experience as a prisoner of war, and the importance of celebrating Remembrance Day.

Also includes a plaque that is inside an upholstered case, and a framed gold relief both presented by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army to the mess.

Fonds consists of files (1970-1980) pertaining to the CX-84 Tilt Wing V/STOL Aircraft used by Peter Charlton when he was CX-84 Tilt Wing V/STOL Project Manager and Director General Aerospace Engineering and Maintenance. There are also seven reports from the Royal Canadian Navy Experimental Squadron Ten concerning helicopter haul down and handling systems during the 1960s. Includes a report of a voyage to the Canadian Arctic by CCDG John A. Macdonald in 1969., a monograph by Charlton re Sea king helicopters and the RCN destroyers during 1962-1966, and copies of the "Canadian Aeronautics and Space Journal". Also includes an autobiography and family history of the Charltons, 1 videocassette and 1 film reel regarding helicopters entitled "CHSS-2 Haul Down System", and 1 videocassette entitle "EH-101 Passing the Torch".

Fonds consists of reference files compiled by the Naval Historical Section during the 1950s and kept up-to-date until 1965-1966. Documents added after 1966 were added by staff at the Directorate of History, or later by the Directorate of History and Heritage, and, therefore, were not part of the original collection. Most of the documents cover the period of E.C. Russell's tenure as Naval Historian during 1952-1966, and also includes material collected by the first Naval Historian, Dr. Gilbert Norman Tucker, during the Second World War. The material documents the history of the Royal Canadian Navy from the First World War up to the 1960s, with the Second World War being the most covered.

John G. Diefenbaker fonds

Fonds consists of a selection of photocopied records from the Diefenbaker Canada Centre Archives in Saskatoon. Isabel Campbell of the Naval History Team at the Directorate of History and Heritage selected key records to support the post war naval history project. The records are various documents describing John G. Diefenbaker’s life and career, especially in the late fifties and early sixties. It includes memoranda to the Prime Minister, correspondence with leaders of other states, military officers, ministers and the general public, messages prepared for the House of Commons, speeches, statements, reports of different meetings, handwritten notes, newspaper clippings, magazine articles, correspondence and telegrams. This fonds reflects the important questions of the 1957-1963 period, especially on Canadian and international politics and defence issues during the Cold War. International affairs such as the Berlin Wall and Cuban Missile crises and the law of the sea, NATO, Canada-US relations and Canadian foreign affairs are also discussed in the fonds. With regards to Canadian defence, there are documents about emergency measures, equipment of the army, nuclear weapons and the Navy. There are also various documents on Canadian internal affairs.

Collection consists of files concerning merchant ships that sunk in Canadian waters during the Second World War. Files contain particulars of attacks on merchant ships (including details in regards to the ship and the conditions of the attack); any documents in regards to the sinking of the ship (diary of events, inquiries into the sinking, etc); transcripts of evidence created after the sinking; and other relevant documents in regards to the ship, its passengers, or the attack. Collection also includes miscellaneous documents used in research, including general information relating to sinkings and U-boats, extracts from war logs, rough notes and information on naval directories and their correspondence. Additionally, the collection contains a copy of Lisa Dillon's resme as welllas two of her compilations: List of RG 24 and 83-84/167 Accession File Titles" and "Naval Service Headquarters, 1939-1945: A Guide to Historical Sources and Notes on Personnel Organization".

Fonds consists of six files containing documents released to the media by the Director General Public Affairs on 17 January 1997 regarding the investigations into misconduct and poor performance by members of the unit of CANBAT 2 at Bakovici Hospital in Bosnia and Hercegovina and the mistreatment of Capt. Sandra Perron, Canada's first female infantry officer. Fonds also contains news clippings from Canadian, American and French newspapers describing the opening of the Juno Beach Centre in Normany, France; the burial service for the remains of three unknown Canadian soldiers found near the Passchendarle New British Cemetery in Belgium; and the ceremonies held to mark the 60th Anniversary of Dieppe. There is also a nine minute video cassette titled, "On Patrol for Canada - The Halifax Class Frigates" which introduces the Halifax Class of the Canadian Patrol Frigates.

There are newspaper articles and pertinent information relating to Allied ships that were sunk during there operations. There are also documents pertaining to the German U-boats that were in the area at this time, lists of specific submarines and their activities. Some information relating to the invasion of Normandy is also included, such as the signals used and the actions of the United States Coast Guards in this operation. Also included is some information concerning Dunn’s activities with the public service of New York City and some personal paraphernalia.
