The Jean Crittall collection consists of material produced and collected by Ms. Crittall. It is composed of four series and relates generally to music and the performing arts at the Lakehead. The records also pertain directly to the career of Gisela Depkat, cellist, and to the Port Arthur Women's Club.

The E.A. Carpenter fonds consists of a diary which he used to keep daily records of his activities during the year 1894. This handwritten account contains mostly business details such as settling of accounts, hiring workers, hauling and cutting wood, rails and ties and a description of his travels to various work sites. Also contains notes of his social and family activities and of local events of importance. Contains references to many of Fort William's notables such as the McKellars, J.T. Horne, Mr. McLaurin, and George A. Graham.

Hill's manuscripts, files, published material, miscellaneous textual records and photographs dealing primarily with the union and labor movements in Canada and at the Lakehead, and Communist Party activities, as well as Hill's own interest in the U.S.S.R. and other communist countries. The Herman Frederick Eberts fonds consists of reports and agreements relating to mining investments made by H.F. Eberts, primarily in Northern Ontario, including Marks Township, Steep Rock Lake, Black Bay, Rainy River, Loon Lake and Tache, mostly in the 1890s. Consists of letters written to Eberts by various contacts in Canada reporting on the sites and conditions of mines, assayers' reports, and formal agreements and titles to various properties. Also included is a report on pulpwood stands and the prospects for constructing a pulp mill in the Chapleau, Chester and Georgian Bay area, ca. 1900.

This material was collected as part of Mark Chochla’s Master of Education thesis at Lakehead University, on the subject of education on the railway school cars in Northern Ontario, accepted in 1987. Most of the material, including interviews, was compiled in the previous year. The collection consists of two main series: files of research notes and taped interviews. The research notes include photocopies.

The McVicar family fonds consists of various legal papers including: the will of Victoria McVicar, 1898; probate and recitals of the will of Christina McVicar, 1904; power of attorney, H.N. Ruttan to R.A. Ruttan, 1904; and seven items including abstract of title, mortgages and agreements relating to property formerly part of McVicar estate.

The William Currie Dobie fonds consists of a letter book of outgoing correspondence of W.C. Dobie. Most of the entries pertain to his activities as fishery overseer but some are of a personal nature regarding politics and his attempts to get his estranged wife, Mary, to return to him.

The John Allison fonds contains two school notebooks penned by John Allison as a boy of thirteen showing a superb example of penmanship. They also stand as an example of what was taught in schools at the time. Both were bound at a later date. Together, the two books form one series.

Fonds consists of the papers of Helmer Borg. The fonds, arranged into four series, concerns union and labor activities in the forest industries of Northwestern Ontario. The bulk of the material is composed of his reports and correspondence relating to his union organizing activities. The material also pertains peripherally to an internal dispute within the Lumber and Sawmill Workers Union, Local 2693, Port Arthur, which had, just prior to these records being created, been purged of "radical" elements.

The Reverend S.C. Murray fonds consists of memoirs written by S.C. Murray concerning life in Port Arthur and church affairs.
