File 2.30.41 contains a register of TGH properties under rent [195?], prepared by the TGH Property and Endowment Department and maintained by the Office of the Superintendent. The register includes annotated plates from a City of Toronto atlas showing TGH properties under rent and accompanying textual descriptions of each property, including surveyed dimensions, nature of existing structure(s), terms and conditions of lease etc.
Toronto General Hospital. Office of the PresidentSub-series consists of copies of Monitor, a community newsletter “for staff and friends of TGH.” Monitor was published monthly 1968-1982, then quarterly 1983-1989. Files are incomplete, especially for 1968-1973.
Toronto General Hospital. Public Relations DepartmentSub-series consists of personal and professional papers of TGH neurosurgeons, including Dr. K.G. McKenzie, Dr. W.D. Stevenson, Dr. R. Tasker, and Dr. E.H. Botterell. File 22.2.1 contains Dr. R. Tasker’s notes, correspondence, itineraries and reports on his McLaughlin Fellowship tour of neurosurgical research and treatment centres in Europe and the USA 1959-1961. File 22.2.2 contains a copy of a thesis submitted by Dr. W.D. Stevenson for the Master of Surgery Degree at the University of Toronto: “Chronic Subdural Hematoma in Adults” (1947), published by the Neurosurgical Services of the TGH. File 22.2.3 contains correspondence, typescript notes, abstracts, drafts, illustrations and case reports 1934 - 1936 relating to a paper by Dr. K.G. McKenzie entitled “Intracranial Division of the Vestibular Portion of the Auditory Nerve in Meniere’s Disease”, later published CMAJ 34 (April 1936) 369-381. File 22.2.4 contains the text of a speech delivered by Dr. E.H. Botterell at a special convocation of the University of Toronto on the occasion of his receiving an honorary degree, 1979.
Sub-series consists of admission registers kept by the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit, April 1982-December 1989. Registers include patient names, dates of admission to TGH and to the Neurosurgical ICU, address, attending doctors’ names, patients’ date of birth and OHIP number, diagnosis, TGH history number, date of discharge or death and destination at discharge.
Toronto General Hospital. Division of NeurosurgerySub-series consists of newspaper clippings pertinent to the TGH supplied under contract to the Public Relations Department by the Canadian Press Clippings Service. Clippings are arranged alphabetically by subject.
Toronto General Hospital. Public Relations DepartmentSeries consists of reports conducted by and for the Nursing Department and miscellaneous items. File 17.0.1 consists of a report on turnover in the Department, prepared in June 1981 by the Task Force on Nursing Turnover, Louise Lemieux-Charles and Bernice Gerhart Co-Chairpersons. The purpose of the Task Force was “to identify problems which may contribute to high staff turnover…[and] to make recommendations to improve retention of nursing staff.” File 17.0.2 consists of the final report (May 1983) on TGH Operating Room Services, conducted for the Vice President, Nursing by Woods Gordon Management Consultants. The report reviews factors “impeding the efficient utilization of the operating rooms and generating conflict amongst the staff” and makes recommendations, including “upgrading systems (information, staffing, materials management) and the expansion of some resources (space and staff).” File 17.0.3 consists of a Nursing Staff Survey (November 1983), a follow-up assessment of the effectiveness of staff retention strategies recommended in the report contained in file 17.0.1 .

Plachta, and submitted to the Executive Director of the Metropolitan Toronto District Health Council. Records include correspondence with staff and Hospital administrators, memoranda of policy directives and procedures, patient account files, files re: the management of hospital insurance programs (Blue Cross, OHIP), job descriptions and personnel files, files re: management of the Hospital cafeterias, files re: air ambulance service, information re: rates for Hospital services, and budget preparation files.
Series consists of correspondence between the Assistant Superintendent, Medical and the Medical Advisory Board concerning the medical management of the Hospital; the permanent records of TGH intern staff, including performance appraisals; and applications for positions on the TGH intern staff.

Sub-series consists of various materials relating to the ceremonies opening the new TGH Neurosurgical Unit in the Center Block Building (Norman Urquhart Wing) November 8, 1958. File 22.3.1 contains a commemorative booklet edited by Dr. T.P. Morley containing a transcription of speeches; a bibliography of the papers of Dr. K.G. McKenzie; and a description of the Unit, illustrated by drawings. File 22.3.2 contains a sound recording (audio-cassette tape) of speeches delivered during the opening ceremonies, as recorded by Dr. R. Tasker: duration of the recording is approximately 55 minutes. File 22.3.3 contains a program of the opening ceremonies.

File 15.2.1 consists of one bound volume of patient records created in the TGH Medical Division 1913, containing files numbered 11601 - 11700 and identified as “Vol. 93 Medical - nervous”. File 15.2.2 consists of one bound volume of patient records created in the TGH military wards 1918 - 1919, containing files numbered 3401 - 3499, identified as “Vol. [24? 42?] Military Histories”, and classified by condition: Alimentary, Bones, Genito-Urinary, Glands, Joints, Nervous, Respiratory, Skin, Tendons, Vascular. File 15.2.3 contains the medical records of Leonard Thompson, the world’s first recipient of insulin (January 11, 1922) for control of diabetes mellitus.
Records include patient history, examination and progress notes, treatment record, urine and blood chart, clinical chart, bacteriologists’ reports.
