Fonds consists of one DVD copy of “The Alouette at War”, produced by the Visual Education Centre for the Department of National Defence in 1971. The film uses archival film footage from the Second World War to present a brief summary of the Alouette Squadron’s, or 425 Squadron’s activities during the Second World War. The magazines contain military and non-military related information, including commercial advertisements, reports, photos of Air Force members, upcoming attractions, miscellaneous articles, trivia, Canadian news, birth notices, comics, crossword puzzles, standings for sports teams, poetry, climatological summaries, etc. Flight lieutenants edited the magazine, and Air Force members wrote the majority of the articles. Some years are incomplete.

Also, it includes photographs of airmen regarding their stories, medals, uniforms, customs, etc.

Volumes 1-2 include operational reports (opreps) consisting of daily reports from 441 Squadron to various headquarters, including the Royal Air Force (RAF), Allied Expeditionary Air Force, and 144 Airfield. Also includes volumes regarding flight logs, honours and awards, flying accidents, casualties, the Squadron unit badge and monthly training and flying returns. Volume 4 includes the returns of the pilots’ flying times and is classified.

Fonds consists of the weekly newspaper “The Mercury” published by the 4th Canadian Armoured Divisional Signals in 1945. 13 issues of the publication are included from Sept. to Dec. 1945. The newspaper was published by the unit while it was in Almelo and Hilversum, Netherlands. Articles concern topics in unit life such as entertainment, sports, recruitments and departures, unit personnel, opinions and upcoming events. The pages also include photographs and satirical cartoons.
