The aim of the war book was to provide direction for transportation and postal support of the Canadian Forces during periods of crisis, emergency and war.

Collection consists of manuscripts and comments related to the editing and publishing process of the book A Blue Water Navy: The Official History of the Royal Canadian Navy in the Second World War, Volume II Part 2: 1943-1945. Fonds consists of an operations plan and interim operations plans for 1 Air Division when it was stationed at Metz, France during 1953-1955. The operations plan was designed to meet a situation in which war had been forced upon the NATO nations by acts of aggression of the USSR or her satellites. The interim operations plans were designed to prepare Air Division units for the transition from peace to war operations with the maximum degree of combat effectiveness.

Includes correspondence re Logan's aerial photography training and aerial navigation training, the early history of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and the First World War operations, arctic flying and sovereignty questions in 1922. There is are various documents about the RCAF Ground Instructional Section and Photographic Section during the early 1920s.

Collection consists of budget estimates for the Canadian Forces from 1908 to 1974, including the: Dept. of Naval Services; Air Board; Dept. of Militia and Defence; Dept. of National Defence; Defence Research Board; Canadian Army; Royal Canadian; and Canadian Armed Forces. Includes additional budget proposals for various projects and services including construction programmes, defence research and development, and civilian strength. Collection also provides monthly statements of expenditures and reports to the minister, which detail spending and proposed spending for the Canadian Armed Forces. Also consists of reports and charts showing budget estimates, and expenditures for various Department of National Defence (DND) projects from 1951-1956, including the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), and the Canadian Army. Many reports concern the proposed construction of facilities for Canadian Forces bases, showing the budget estimates, expenditures and other details about the projects. There are also reports and statistics about budget estimates for various other DND programs.

Normand Rouleau fonds

Fonds consists of files used by Normand Rouleau when he was Executive Assistant to the Coordinator of the Olympic Security Committee from 1975 to 1976. These include detailed papers pertaining to security measures undertaken during the Montreal Olympic Games. Mostly, they consist of documents from the offices of COJO (Comité organisateur des Jeux olympiques) and Comité Principal de Sécurité Publique.

Air Transport Board fonds

Fonds consists of material maintained by the Air Transport Board and pertaining to contracts regarding airlifts of supplies to Distant Early Warning (DEW) Line sites for the fiscal years 1958-1971. The files contain information on contracts established with such companies as: CP Air (President - Richard W. Ryan), Federal Electric Corporation, Maritime Central Airways, Northern Construction Co. and J.W. Stewart, Okanagan Helicopters, Pacific Western Airlines , Western Electric Company and Wheler Airlines. A small number of files pertain to airlift operations in Korea. The fonds also contains input from the Air Industries and Transport Association of Canada. Arranged according to a block numeric subject classification system employed by the Air Transport Board. The files have been renumbered.

Fonds consists of photocopies of G.M. Croil's correspondence with W.A. Bishop concerning: Royal Air Force (RAF) dress regulations; information on intake and training of men for RCAF technical trades; enclosures of photographs (no longer attached); and a request for the total flying hours anticipated for the fiscal year 1939-40. Also includes Croil's correspondence with Squadron Leader F.V. Heakes, the RCAF Liaison Officer in London, regarding: the Air Council decision on the Bolingbroke; the mission to North America on aircraft procurement, RAF flying training schools and recruiting in Canada, and British Cabinet changes; problems with Canadian direct entries into the RAF; a scheme for forming RAF schools in Canada; and a decision to purchase Bristol engines. Consists of his correspondence with Group Captain G.C. Pirie, an Air Attaché from the British Embassy in Washington, regarding visits to Vancouver, Miami, Trenton and Ottawa; and correspondence with W.A. Rundle and Halford D. Wilson (Alderman) concerning an address to the Vancouver Board of Trade. Also includes newspaper clippings and miscellaneous documents, as well as 3 photographs.

Fonds consists of station information bulletins from the following Canadian Forces Supplementary Radio Stations: Ladner and Masset in BC, Coverdale in NB, Leitrim and Gloucester in ON, Alert and Inuvik in NWT, Gander in NF, Flin Flon in MB, and in Bermuda. Information bulletins were monthly, and contained lists of visitors to the station, any maintenance done, announcements of social events, special courses, changes in personnel, changes in living quarters, and generally everything notable that happened in and around the station in a particular month.
