Series consists of records created and used by Marilou McPhedran while serving as chairperson of two task forces on the subject of sexual abuse of patients by physicians. The first of these independent task forces was commissioned by the College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1990 and included members Harvey Armstrong, Rachel Edney, Pat Marshall, Roz Roach and coordinators Briar Long and Bonnie Homeniuk. The records in this series pertain to task force hearings and meetings and document the process of preparing the task force's preliminary and final reports. These records include McPhedran's resource materials and first-person testimonies submitted to the task force. Also included in this series are records created when the task force was reconvened in 2000 to review the impact of the Regulated Health Professions Act. Files in this series consist of reports, correspondence, memoranda, legal documents, notes, newspaper clippings, financial statements, academic papers, photographs, electronic documents, and video cassettes.

TGH Pharmacopoeia

Series consists of copies of the TGH Pharmacopoeia, editions of 1912 and 1922. The Pharmacopoeia was first published in [1876?] and was frequently revised and re-issued thereafter. The Pharmacopoeia listed drugs and other substances, and dosages approved for use in the various departments of the Hospital and also provided instructions for performing basic surgical and obstetrical procedures.

The report outlines plans for the “modernization and expansion of the Toronto General Hospital”, including the construction of new facilities for the TGH School of Nursing and Nurses’ Residence.

Series consists of minutes of the TGH and TTH Board of Trustees. Minutes from 1822-1994 are in 39 bound volumes. Minutes from 1995-1998 were kept loose in binders. As of the meeting of October 1986, a joint meeting of the Boards of both the Toronto General Hospital and the Toronto Western Hospital, the minutes change from being for the TGH Board of Trustees to those of the TTH Board of Trustees. It was at that meeting that the Chairman, Vice-Chairmen and Secretary for the new Board of Trustees for The Toronto Hospital were elected. However, all minutes continued to be bound identically and labeled as Minutes of Meetings for the Board of Trustees of the Toronto General Hospital. Minutes for the period of May 1848 to February 1866 are missing. Several items and appendices are also missing from the minutes for July, September and December 1997. A sheet listing the items missing from 1997 can be found in file 8.1.61 along with the minutes for January 1997.

Series consists of two files of documentation related to the merger between the Toronto General Hospital and the Toronto Western Hospital accumulated by the Vice-President, Finance, Mr. J. Elliott. Records in file 5.3.1 include correspondence and reports on the positions of various University of Toronto and Hospital Departments regarding the proposed merger; scattered issues of Merger News, a newsletter produced by the office of W. Vickery Stoughton, President, TGH; copies of draft merger agreements; news releases; related appendices from Board of Trustees meetings; the final version of the Report of the Marotta Committee Regarding the TGH-TWH Merger; and newspaper clippings. Records in file 5.3.2 include copies of various Bills and Bylaws; a copy of a Banking Resolution approved by the Board of Trustees at its monthly meeting on December 16, 1986; a list of Board of Trustees with information on when they were first appointed and their base hospital; and Terms of Reference and membership lists of the various Committees of the Board as of October 21, 1986.
