Fonds consists of an article by Major A.G. Sangster, entitled “Some Mechanical Aspects of Exercise ‘Musk-Ox’”. Prepared for The Engineering Journal, the article describes the mechanical experience gained from the non-tactical exercise, which was undertaken by the Canadian Army and the Royal Canadian Air Force from February to May 1946. Discussed are the vehicles used, the operating conditions, the operation of components, as well as the methods of maintenance and repair.

Fonds consists of material pertaining to the 2011 change of command ceremony for the Commander Maritime Command (MARC). Command passed from Vice-Admiral Dean McFadden to Vice-Admiral Paul Maddison on 22 July 2011. Includes written speeches, a pamphlet, a newspaper clipping, printed photographs, copies of MARGENs (Maritime General Orders) 031-11 and 033-11, as well as a DVD entitled “Navy Dinner and Change of Command Ceremony, July 21-22, 2011”. Also consists of written material regarding the 2013 change of command ceremony for the Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy. Command passed from Vice-Admiral Paul Maddison to Vice-Admiral Mark Norman on 20 June 2013. Includes the Changed of Command Program (glossy publication), an administrative order dated 7 May 2013, the guest list, the master of ceremonies script, speaking notes for General Tom Lawson and Peter MacKay, correspondence, as well as the original file copy of the Change of Command Certificate. Also includes photographs of the Commanding Officers from the last mission in Kabul and a change of Command certificate between Major-general Michael Day and Major-General JR Feron in 2012.

Fonds consists of a report titled “A Short History of Britain and Iran” that provides a concise overview of Iranian history and a chronological analysis of British military relations with Iran, beginning in the mid-nineteenth century with the Napoleonic Wars and ending with the Iran-Iraq War of 1980-1988. Fonds also includes a document, contained in the previous report, titled “The Tanker War and the Armilla Patrol,” which examines Britain’s naval response to Iranian and Iraqi tanker-hunting in the Persian Gulf in the 1980s.

Fonds consists of a report on the Canadian Forces (CF) mission to terminate Operation Mobile, the operational name given to Canada’s mission in Libya as part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s (NATO) Operation Unified Protector, from an operational and tactical perspective. The report is entitled “TDAT (Theatre Deactivation Team) Op Mobile Lessons Learned Report”. It is dated 5 January 2012. Fonds includes a summary of Canadian Operational Support Command (CANOSCOM) mission and orientation as well as the lessons learned during theatre deactivation of Op Mobile. Included in the lessons learned are two annexes that contain observations and recommendations for theatre deactivation.

Fonds consists of maps of Region III in Vietnam as well as briefings on Darlac, Bind Dinh, and Kontum Provinces. It also includes internal correspondence of the International Commission for Control and Supervision (ICCS) and an outline of Canadian operations within the ICCS. Additionally, there are newspaper clippings, an issue of Time with the cover title “Vietnam: Ten Years Later”, and an issue of Sentinelle from 1973. Files 4 and 5 contain issues, and copies, of The Petawawa Base Post from 1973. File 6 is a collection of correspondence and documentation related to the CANDEL ICCS Association, including meeting minutes and matters relating to reunions. Col (Ret’d) Smith was one of the members to serve as president of the association. Included as well in the file is a document entitled “Recommended Constitution of the ‘Friends of the Canadian War Museum’”.

Fonds consists of material documenting the crash of the aircraft Heinkel He 177 A-3 in the United Kingdom on 19 April 1944. The aircraft was part of Operation “Steinbock”, or “The Baby Blitz”. It was shot down near Ashden/Little Walden in Essex, by an RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) Mosquito aircraft. Includes extensive notes on the crash in 1944 and the crash site investigation in 2011.

Fonds consists of two reports related to herbicide spraying at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Gagetown, New Brunswick, noting the 1966 – 1967 testing of Agent Orange, Agent Purple and Agent White. The document is a fact finding report written by Dr. Dennis Furlong on the spray programs from 1952 to 2004 at CFB Gagetown. The second document, a 2011 update report from Golder Associates LTD., was intended to review the use of herbicides at each Canadian Forces site and determine whether Agent Orange or Agent Purple were applied at any other sites. No direct evidence was found to indicate that those herbicides were used anywhere other than CFB Gagetown.

Fonds consists of a short black and white film entitled “North Canadian Incident” about the crash of a PB-1 American navy observation plane near Natashquan, Quebec probably in 1944. The film shows scenes of the American civilian work crew who were sent from Presque Isle, Maine to fix the plane including activities like setting up camp, cooking, eating, and gathering wood. The pilot and flight engineer arrived and flew the plane back to the naval base at Quonset Point, Rhode Island where it was presented to the Navy. The film places emphasis on the ways that the American government was saving money by fixing the plane instead of building a new one.

Fonds consists of a variety of documents from the Canadian Intelligence and Military Police Association (CIMPA), formerly the Canadian Intelligence and Security Association (CISA). Includes CISA and CIMPA quarterly newsletters that cover current events in military security and member activities for 1976-2011. Also includes the agendas and minutes of the association Annual General Meeting for 1971-2011 and the minutes of the Executive Board of Directors for 1980-2008. Fonds also includes reports from Conference of Defence Associations meetings between the years 1980-2009. There is correspondence of five of CISA/CIMPA’s presidents, various documents relating to the general history of CISA/CIMPA, reports on the amalgamation and dissolution of CISA and CIMPA, and financial statements involving the association and its various charities, awards, and bursaries. Also included are the original letters patent, with several copies, for the association’s naq.me changes from Canadian Military Intelligence Association (CMIA) to CISA, and later to CIMPA, and multiple copies of all CISA/CIMPA by-laws. There are also reports on the CMIA annual meeting, copies of Canadian Intelligence Quarterly for 1963-1968, minutes of executive councils, and files on various other topics relating to the CMIA and CISA.
