Alexander Brohman fonds

Fonds consists of an account book detailing payments made for work conducted on wagons, from 1877-1884. Following the volume’s use as an account book, it served as a recipe book, and contains many recipes clipped from printed sources which are sometimes loose but also glued over some of the accounts. Some recipes are also hand- written. Fonds also contains two photographs, one from 1906 of Alexander Brohman’s shop following a tornado, and one of the Mildmay telephone switchboard, dated 1926. Fonds also contains a few postcards and printed materials, including a booklet called “Canadian History Notes” by George E. Henderson and Charles G. Fisher, 1906.

Volumes mostly contain minutes, which note debating topics and programmes of entertainment that were undertaken during the meeting, as well as the administration of the club. Fonds consists of a diary of William L. Garner, written during combat between 28 July 1918 and 17 April 1919. Entries note movements of the troops, sights seen, and where Garner was billeted at night. He appears to have been in London on leave for part of the duration of the diary, and makes mention of a number of locations in Belgium and Germany (particularly Koln). Fonds also includes a newsclipping noting his war injury.

Michael Cassidy fonds

Fonds consists of records arising from Cassidy's role as leader of the New Democratic Party of Ontario from 1978 to 1981. Included are records arising from political business trips and campaigns, as well as incoming and outgoing correspondence, and speeches and press releases. Campaign material includes canvassing records, delegate registration records, clippings, photographs of Cassidy campaigning, and letters of congratulation. Correspondence relates to various political matters and is organized in a variety of arrangements. Correspondence for 1978 is arranged into: files of major issues (to be brought up in Legislature, or dealt with by the Party) and minor issues (to be dealt with by Cassidy or his office), arranged numerically by riding numbers; alphabetical files; and issues correspondence arranged alphabetically by correspondent. Correspondence from 1979 to 1980 was arranged into: numerical files; subject and issues files arranged alphabetically; and files relating to issues concerning Toronto. Fonds also contains issues files containing issues-related correspondence filed alphabetically by correspondent.
