The fonds contains documents related to the Kapuskasing Credit Union from 1939 to 2005. Found amongst the documents are financial records, administrative documentation, correspondence, official publications, publicity and press releases, regulations and manuals, as well as printed photographs and negatives.

It provides information on some of the Hearst area lumber companies and on organizations such as the Hearst Lumbermen’s Association and the Ontario Lumber Manufacturers’ Association. The fonds also includes documents pertaining to the Hearst Forest Management company, the Northern Ontario Development Corporation, and to René Fontaine in his role as a member of the Ontario legislature and minister in the Ontario government. This is complemented by government reports, studies analyzing the situation and needs of the lumber industry and of Northern Ontario’s economy, handbooks relating to the working practices of the industry and maps mostly illustrating cutting rights in the forest of the region.

Collection consists of records collected by Françoise Noël in the course of research for her book Nipissing: Historic Waterway, Wilderness Playground (Toronto: Dundurn Books, 2015), about the historical development of the tourism industry in the Nipissing District. The collection was assembled over approximately five years leading up to the book's publication. It contains maps, photographs, postcards, tourist guides and brochures, souvenir booklets, event programs, yearbooks, and other material relating to the history of North Bay and the Nipissing District, especially the tourist industry. The collection is arranged into five series based on documentary form.

Fonds reflects Kyle's work in northern Ontario as a counsellor with the Federal Business Development Bank's Counselling Assistance to Small Enterprises (CASE) program. Fonds contains case reports documenting Kyle's visits to small businesses in northern Ontario communities and his provision of management services counselling advice.

Fonds consists of three record books. Two of these are ledgers that date from the period that Thomas was the manager of Consolidated Optical Co. They offer a rare glimpse of daily operations of a Canadian instrument making firm. The ledgers have records of purchases, contacts, receipts, and materials dating from 1914 to 1920. The other record book is a surveying class notebook that is undated.

The general store records include: detailed supplier invoices 1896-1910, 1914-1933; incoming and outgoing correspondence 1897-1942 and orders and order receipts 1899-1928; general ledgers and day books 1868-1896; profit and loss accounts 1901-1905; store inventories 1903-1904, 1911 and cash books 1901-1911, 1937-1938. There are also general lumber orders 1931-1946 in box 12.

For the sawmill there are time books 1905-1926; log books of logs cut for the sawmill 1895-1927; log book accounts 1908-1910, 1934-1939; lumber and timber contracts 1898-1910; and railway tie contracts 1914-1927.

There are also miscellaneous files relating to the Richards family including insurance certificates 1899-1913; Harry Richards’ income taxes 1916-1923 and 1933-1940; and William Richards’ notebooks for money owed 1892-1898 as well as his estate accounts 1908-1912. There are also records relating to the public school board of Grattan and Brougham Townships 1891-1931 and the Brougham and Grattan Telephone Co. 1907-1921.

The documents are arranged into three series: 1) General Store Records and Orders; 2) Financial Records; and, 3) Subject Files.
