Fonds consists of minutes from various hospital committees, correspondence, administrative and research reports, memorandums, publicity photographs, and reports and architectural drawings regarding hospital planning and construction. Records relate to the administrative, teaching and research activities of the various divisions of the hospital. Fonds is arranged into two sousfonds and five series:

The arrangement of the series reflects the organizational structure as it was in 1957. Since no official policy for records transfer existed, fonds is incomplete.

Sub-series consists of reports by the Supervising Committee (file 5.4.1) and Director (file 5.4.2) of the Ontario Institute of Radiotherapy to the Ontario Ministry of Health outlining proposals and plans for expanding the operations of the Institute.

Sub-series consists of research papers by staff and consultants of the Ontario Institute of Radiotherapy, including Dr. G.E. Richards, Dr. H. Wookey and Dr. R.M Janes. The papers summarize developments in the radiological treatment of cancer at the Institute. Sub-series consists of one file:

5.3.1 Collected Papers from the Ontario Institute of Radiotherapy 1936

Sub-series consists of annual reports prepared and published by the Director of the Ontario Institute of Radiotherapy. Reports summarize the work of the Institute in the year preceding and include information about Institute staff, financial statements, research reports and statistics outlining the volume of patient admissions and treatments.

5.1.1 Minutes 1934-1936

Series consists of minutes of meetings of the Supervising Committee, annual reports, collected research papers published by Institute staff and consultants, and plans and proposals for the expansion of the Institute.

Related material, including correspondence between the TGH Superintendent and the Director of the OIR, financial statements, patient records, and records documenting the equipment of the Institute and the purchase of radium are located in the Superintendent’s correspondence and general administration files for 1930ff.
