The fonds consists of the working files for the Air Force Historical Section, including material from the Raymond Collishaw Papers. Many of the files contain articles or short histories as well as nominal rolls and photographs for the respective squadrons. Extracts from the official Royal Flying Corps / Royal Air Force communiqués highlight the activities of Canadian airmen. As a general rule, there is more information on those squadrons that had large numbers of Canadians.
UntitledCollection consists of information cards created by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Historical Section, and regarding RCAF deserters, RCAF fatal casualties and prisoners of war, and Mention in Despatches (MID) for Canadian airmen for the Second World War. Also includes cards for RCAF aircrew that were granted Operation Wing Tour awards during the Second World War. The cards contain information such as name, service number, dates, honours, awards, decorations, medals, and fate of the airman. The cards are arranged alphabetically. There are four series: Fonds is comprised of the following series:
I. Royal Canadian Air Force Deserters (1939-1945)
II. Fatal Casualties and Prisoners of War in the Second World War (1939-1945)
III. Mention-in-Despatches - Canadian Airmen (1940-1946)
IV. Operation Wings Tour Awards (1944-1949)
Collection consists of materials documenting the activities of the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1946 to the 1960s. It mostly includes documents on Home War Establishment, Overseas War Establishment, Post Second World War Establishment and other units the RCAF, National Defence and the United States military. The collection is divided in 4 Record Groups:
