Fonds consists of nine handwritten day books, eight of which are also ledgers. The day books contain records relating to the general merchant business of Charles Jones. Entries give customers' names, prices of goods, and goods sold. The goods include both groceries and sundries such as butter, brown sugar, salts, peppermint, blankets, chalk, calico, and logs.

Fonds consists of records relating to the Yonge Mills, although some records relate to Jones' other activities as a politician and public servant. Included are financial records such as ledgers, day books, cashbooks, invoice books, and work books for timekeeping. Production records of the Yonge Mills include a memorandum book of produce, and inventory of goods, books documenting wheat shipments received and wheat sales, and books documenting flour sales. Fonds also includes other business records, such as a Cooper's book, a carding book, a law suits book, and a business journal recording sales of general merchandise at Brockville. Fonds also contains personal records of Charles Jones, including letterbooks, an estate cash book, and and estate bills book.
