Series reflects the involvement of the Board with the establishment and maintenance of the Ontario Cancer Institute/Princess Margaret Hospital, and the Board's relationship with the University of Toronto and other teaching hospitals. Subseries consists of five Board Books from the Annual Meetings of the OCI Members from July 1992 to June 1996.

Series consists of Retreat Books for the OCI/PMH Board from 1990-1995.

Board Retreats grew out of a need for better Board orientation, evaluation and continuing education in regard to the accreditation process. Board Retreats were meetings that would be less frequent, but last longer, and focus on strategic planning.

Board Retreats involved only the Board and a small number of senior staff and served the purpose of orientation, assessing board performance and improving and refining board systems and processes.

The Retreat Books usually contain planning / performance information. The Board Retreats in 1994 and 1995 had the themes of Research Strategy and Hospital Re-engineering.
