Archival description

Series consists of administrative files from the Principal and Office of the Chief Librarian including acquisitions, annual reports, collection development, building development, organizational charts, manuals and policies. Correspondence includes memos, letters, telex messages and campus newsletter, in addition miscellaneous questionnaires, surveys and detailed planning on new library building including furniture & equipment, shelving and space allocation.
The bulk of the records consist of inter-university correspondence providing insight into the workings of the library during a period of library and academic expansion, computerization and transition.

Donations, potential consultants for new library expansion written on behalf of Dr. Braun. Information related to donation list 1960 and 1962, new coding system for library budgets, budget recommendations, and detailed information regarding future expansion of Lakehead College (1960's). Miscellaneous lists of periodicals ordered in 1965 by Ontario Dept. of Lands & Forests, St. Lawrence Waterway, and T.S. Eliot collection.

Folders include Friends of the Library correspondence, professional library staff 1964, donation letters, GST requisitions, memberships 1964 and budget notes for fiscal year 1964/65. Also includes folder labelled Lakehead College Library reports and library expansion starting July 1964.

Staff general

Correspondence on staff vacation, and staff lists, job evaluation survey/study, payroll, department memos, parking facilities, position classifications according to Canadian Association of College & University Libraries. Also includes booklet on Collective Agreement between Lakehead University and Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) Local 81 and a Library Readers' Guide, 1967 and 1968-1969 and a report on pension, group life and salary continuance plan for Lakehead College of Arts, Science & Technology.

Notices to staff

Memos on new staff, season tickets to athletic contests, summer hours/schedules, residence housing, Lakehead Film Society, Lakehead University Faculty Association (LUFA), Lakehead University Charity Fund Committee, banking services on campus and parking regulations. Lakehead University's Audio-Visual Department in conjunction with CKPR present Montage, a 15 minute-program featuring interviews with members of teaching staff, student body, and administrative staff. Also includes an entry form for Lakehead University school song contest, a notice of a special meeting to discuss the integration of Teacher's College and election procedure and faculty office space. Trevor Page memorial fund was initiated. In 1967 the University Library became a full depository for all Canadian Government publications as per the Queen's Printer.
