Documents include memoranda, letters from the United Nations Security Council to the United Nations Secretary General, reports, correspondence, briefing notes and other documents. Series is organized chronologically and sub-series are included in cases where they existed in the documents as transmitted by the creator. The volume numbers assigned by the creator have been maintained.

Series consists of documents produced by various departments of the Canadian government. Documents pertain mostly to peacekeeping, international peace and security and Canadian foreign and defence policy. The documents are grouped according to the particular department of the government from which they emanate. File originating from the Department of External Affairs follows documents from the Senate and the House of Commons. These are arranged chronologically. The Department of National Defence documents follow, and are arranged alphabetically according to the abbreviation of the branch of the department to which they belong. Documents belonging to the department as a whole follow chronologically. Documents from all other departments are last and are also arranged chronologically. Includes debates, minutes of proceedings, reports, statements, speeches, assorted papers and other documents.

Fonds consists of materials documenting Canada's general experiences in peacekeeping missions, particularly with Canada's participation in United Nations Transition Assistance Group (UNTAG) -- Namibia, in 1989-1990 as well as material documenting issues of change and renewel taking place in the Canadian Armed Forces in the mid-1990s. The main types of records included are reports from the United Nations on different aspects of UNTAG, minutes from the Canadian Senate and House of Commons as well as other documents emanating from different federal departments, including many branches of the Department of National Defence. There are also published documents from a variety of periodicals and North-American newspapers and monographs. Many of these newspaper articles, as well as various theses, are on microfiches. Series consists of over 183 articles, published works and newspaper clippings on microfiches. These 183 documents represent about 650 microfiches and they are divided in sub-series by main topic. Within each subdivision, the microfiches are arranged chronologically. In the incidence of identical dates, microfiches have been placed alphabetically according to creator. In sub-series G, chronological order is determined by the earliest date of all microfiches bearing the same title. The microfiches all pertain to the same topic, peacekeeping. The sub-series are: Canadian Peacekeeping, United Nations Peacekeeping, United States Peacekeeping, Peacekeeping in Somalia, Peacekeeping in the former Yugoslavia, Miscellaneous Peacekeeping and Newspaper clippings on microfiches. There is an additional sub-series “Research Papers on Microfiche” which represents 41 microfiches. It covers a variety of subjects, including women in the military, logistics, joint Soviet-American air operations, , the Siberian Expedition of 1918-1920 and the Persian Gulf War.

Series consists of newspaper clippings from major French and English daily newspapers from North America and Britain. Therefore, series includes both English and French articles. Most articles in the series are about peacekeeping in Africa. Some documents also pertain to Canada’s foreign relations with African countries such as Namibia, Angola, Ethiopia and South Africa. The articles dated 1985 through 1990, were found under the search terms “United Nations – Africa”.
