Books one to three cover his service as a Private in the Canadian Corps Cyclist Battalion during the First World War. Books four and two cover his service as a liaison officer for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) during the Second World War. Books one through four are entitled "Strange Roads Go Down: The Story of Fifty Years." The books provide details of the life, training and service of Pettis in the Canadian Cyclist Corps.
