eries consists of blank Naval Ordnance (NAVORD) material and can be divided into three sections: forms, instructions, and reports. The section on NAVORD forms is contained within two folders. The first folder contains the assorted NAVORD forms. The second covers a variety of topics: pyrotechnic performance, pyrotechnic ammunition manufacturing data card, ordnance inventory/Ordnance Alteration (ORDALT) status change reports, work measure reports, and battery record. The second folder contains a blank logbook for recording radar data. The section on NAVORD instructions is contained within two folders, one detailing standard inspection procedures and the other with orders 5200.6-8510.56. There are two NAVORD reports in the third section. The first report is on Frequency Modulated Magnetic Tape Recording devices and the other report is on modifications made to the Fire Control System for naval guns.

Series consists of technical notes produced by the Director General Fighting Equipment, Royal Canadian Navy on various naval weapons and systems. The technical notes were designed to analyse and draw conclusions about the naval equipment. The reports were meant to test the limits on some naval equipment and test potential improvements on others. The systems covered in the notes range from: very deep sonar equipment, vibrations of towing cables, preliminary analysis on hydrofoil craft, and notes on design of shipboard HF communication systems. The file labeled ‘Miscellaneous’ contains an inventory of technical reports and a miniature mock-up of the hardcover used when submitting technical reports. The folder also contains a coloured photograph of Queen Elizabeth II , a hand written version of the technical report index and other assorted technical notes and memos.

Series consists of two safety manuals issued by the U.S. Navy. The first manual provides general safety procedures to be followed by naval personnel. The manual is a general manual and covers everything from mechanical, maintenance safety, to firearms, ammunition storage, and explosives safety. The second safety manual covers the procedures to be used when handling chemicals used in pyrotechnics. The manual is organized by chemical and then lists the hazards, safety equipment and use of each chemical in pyrotechnics

Series consists of American government and non-government publications electronic equipment, radio and communications in the U.S. Navy. The series includes technical manuals, instruction booklets, guides and various other documents. The major American government contributors include the Navy Department’s Bureau of Ships, the Naval Ship Systems Command and the Naval Ship Engineering Center, Norfolk Division. Some of the non-government contributors include: the Sangamo Electric Company; the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Electronics Division; and the Federal Electric Corporation. The major subjects covered include: electronic equipment, radar; radio equipment; military communication; radar; and sonar. The series is arranged by the NAVSHIPS publication number.

Series consists of Canadian, American, and British government and non-governmental publications concerning operating instruction, services and parts manuals for various engines and appliances used on naval vessels during 1920 to 1976. The major contributors include:

The series includes documents on alterations and additions to certain classes of naval vessels, catalogues for ordering spare parts, standardized orders and various other subjects. The types of documents include manuals, handbooks, regulations and orders, instructions, port information and catalogues. The files are arranged in alphabetical order by country (Canada, United Kingdom and United States) and then in numerical order by the BRCN number.

Series consists of NAVORD reports and includes United States government and non-government publications. The major government corporate authors include: the Bureau of Ordnance; the US Naval Ordnance Laboratory (White Oak, Maryland); and US Naval Ordnance Test Station (China Lake, California). Some of the major subjects covered include: torpedoes; antiaircraft guns; rockets; missiles; and explosives. The publications are arranged in alphabetical order by corporate name. There are also three non-government publications regarding fire control systems.

Series consists of the Naval Ordnance Bulletin issued during 1966 to 1974, as well as the earlier versions issued as the Bulletin of Ordnance Information (1949-1959) and the Naval Weapons Bulletin (1960-1966). Arranged in chronological order by the year and then by the bulletin number.

Series consists of the Rudtorpe Digest issued during 1960 to 1966. Arranged in numerical order by the Review number.

The series consists of three unclassified volumes: the report; the procedures manual; and the supplement 1 to ship system design and acquisition procedures manual, including ship system design sequence flow charts. Each volume contains instructional and educational information in the form of recommendations by a non-government operated consulting engineering company (The Stanwick Corporation) to the Canadian Forces regarding their ship building and design policies. The documents contain both written information and labeled technical drawings.

Series consists of bulletins regarding a 1955 11th meeting of the Joint Army-Navy-Air Force Solid Propellant Group, lecture notes and sketches regarding underwater weapons, and wo publications on the Digital Automatic Tracking and Remoting System (DATAR) used by the Royal Canadian Navy. Also includes a CBM register of all CBM documents received. The series is arranged in numerical order by the CBM number.

Series consists of a collection of papers that were presented at the AIAA / SNAME [Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers] Advance Marine Vehicles Meeting in Norfolk, Virginia during 22-24 May 1967, and then published by the AIAA in 1967. Each of the 15 papers contain instructional information regarding assorted shipbuilding and design techniques (such as hydrofoil ships, captured air bubble vehicles, and submergence ships) developed by various engineering companies based in the United States. The series is arranged in numerical order by the AIAA paper number.

Series consists of three articles published in the 1970s by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. The documents contain instructional and descriptive information regarding the design, development, and testing of ship motors and assorted parts therein, communications and satellites. The series is arranged in numerical order by the AIAA paper number.

Series consists of training books published between 1952 and 1966 by the Bureau of Naval Personnel (NAVPERS Publications). The documents contain pedagogical information regarding the use of electricity, electronics, and sonar technology in a naval combat context. The series is comprised of three genres of training manual: the Opticalman series; the Basic Electricity series; the Basic Electronics series, the Search Sonar Maintenance series; and the Fundamentals of Electronics series. The series arranged in numerical order by the NAVPERS number.

Series consists of “Office Files”, including registers for classified navy printed matter, confidential books, general files, general publications, financial records and source cards. The registers are for Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) classified publications of Canadian, British and American origin. The financial records includes: transfer and receipt vouchers and RCN forms for transfer; vouchers, receipts, distribution account listings, memoranda and other documents regarding furniture; and documents transfer and receipts. There are also photocopies of source cards regarding reports of British and Canadian government departments and agencies. The general files cover a wide variety of subjects, including: Admiralty pattern article numbers; Defence Research Establishment Pacific; Naval Engineering Design Investigation Team [NEDIT] memoranda and reports; job description; security clearances; and the United States Navy (USN) Shipbuilding Programme. Subseries consists of chronological files and reference files detailing the activities of Commodore Arthur Graham Bridgman and Commodore William Borden Christie when they were the Director General Maritime Systems during 1967 to 1971. Includes memoranda, correspondence, minutes to meetings, itineraries, significant action reports and other reports, messages and other documents. The subseries is arranged in chronological order.

Subseries consists of files regarding the naming, commissioning and launching during 1964 to 1974 of the following ships: CVAV Quest, HMCS Algonquin; HMCS Athabaskan; HMCS Bras D’Or; HMCS Huron; HMCS Iroquois; HMCS Ojibwa; HMCS Onondaga; and HMCS Okanagan.
