Part of Ayr Women's Hospital Aid Association

This series contains the minute books of the Ayr Women's Hospital Aid Association, detailing the nature of their quarterly meetings, along with the results of their fund raising, what the funds were spent upon, what they planned to do in the future and the election of the executive. Typical minutes note who attended, motions voted upon, amounts raised since the last meeting, news from the Ontario Hospital Association (the mother organization) and notes on the entertainments provided for that meeting.

The Association was founded in 1927, which is when the minutes begin, and in March of 1956 the decision was made to reduce the Association to two meeting a year due to declining attendance. The minute book, although less than half filled, stops there, with no evidence for any meeting after March of that year. Series is arranged chronologically.

Part of Ayr Women's Hospital Aid Association

This series consists of the Treasurer's Reports of the Ayr Women's Hospital Aid Association for the years between 1927 and 1956 in book form.

The first book, a small black notebook, contains records from 1927 to 1939, dealing with annual expenditure and revenues, but also a list of who has paid membership fees, and some preparatory work for the Association's annual reports and drafts of the minutes. Each year generally has two pages for the membership list, followed by a pair of pages with revenue on the left facing page and expenditure on the right. After the entries of 1939 there are some pages of hand written drafts for annual reports and minutes that the author was composing.

The second, green book contains the years 1939 to 1956. Each year has several pairs of facing pages dedicated to it, with the left facing pages containing chronological lists of revenues and the right facing pages lists of expenditures. Typical revenues include membership fees, donations and proceeds from fundraisers, while typical expenses are the various gifts that the Association purchased for the Freeport Sanitorium and the Galt Hospital. The rear of the book has a separate listing of the revenues connected with the Association's annual Christmas Seals campaign.
