Hydrographic Services Office (HSO) (Esquimalt, B.C.) is a client-focused organization providing geometric information to the sea, land and air elements of the Canadian Forces and all Federal Government Departments. Services provided by HSO are global in scope and encompass charts, maps and publications supplemented by a wide range of environmental material and specialty items.

Fonds consists of four navigation data books covering the period 1972-1996 and for the following decommissioned vessels of the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN): HMCS Porte de la Reine, HMCS Kootenay, HMCS Fundy and HMCS Porte Quebec. Each navigation data book includes: list of navigation officers and dates; ship's dimensions and tonnage; details of anchors, cables, etc.; ships turning data; fuel oil capabilities; radio aids to navigation; ships' magnetic and gyro compasses; and various other information pertaining to navigation.
